What a fantastic use of space! I love it! Oregon is one of the places on my list to go just as soon as i get out there. I'm planning to live the rest of my life like this and I am having a hard time waiting.Have fun where ever you are at this point!

thank you so much! At the moment we are in Chile, fixing the shocks of the van, which are really hard to find here. Let us know when you hit the road, we might be in the USA by then, and it would be nice to meet up. Altough, it will take us about 1 or 1,5 years to get there. Good luck, and hope to see you on the road soon! :)

Van Travellers-I would absolutely love to meet up with you! I have never been to Chile or anywhere else for the most part. I've been to Mexico[tourist destination when I was 21] and a few places in the United States but I will be livin the dream when I finally do get out there! Hope the repair goes well and you guys are safe and healthy and having nothing but good times!!!

@billder9997 жыл бұрын
I love this conversion design, brilliant work amigo! Most conversions are trying to fit as much "stuff' as they can design into the space. Personally I want low tech, natural light, windows, a big comfy bed, and adequate storage. For "stealth" sleeping, I just put curtains over the windows so no one can see us inside sleeping... I don't worry about light leakage, because I use almost no light where I sleep. It is amazing how little "stuff" you actually need when you live without for awhile. Go back and watch "Castaway" with Tom Hanks... the ending sequences are devastating.

Very nice. I wonder why the cabinets were placed on the passenger side. I find it nice to be able to check my blind spot over my shoulder. I built mine on the drivers side because I never have to use that back window to see out of.
@vantravellers6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It might be good and sometimes helful to have that window clear, however, we are use to drive using only the side mirrows so we didn´t find any problem building it on that side. It would be good to see your design. All the best

great construction, you're lucky to live in a dry place, here in new zealand it would be difficult. such a bed would be amazing in the larger vans like a sprinter or ford transit. you did a great job

@Lioness0066 жыл бұрын
@@vantravellers Thinking of something anyway. I do not know if this is quite my speed, lol. I did ok in woodshop 26 years ago, but we didn't do anything quite like this. lol But my grandpa or one of his friends might be able to help me. Just looking for inspiration for a better layout than what I have, which is currently 2 foam pads (not enough), a sleeping bag, a blanket, and some rolled up throw blankets for a pillow. I just got a 2001 Toyota Sienna LE a week ago, so I have been checking out videos on KZbin to see how people have laid theirs out. I had been in my 96 Ford Explorer for 4.5 months and I do not know how long I will be in the Sienna. The rental market here is awful! But I also have to allow room for a covered litterbox and make sure I have room for my large dog as well. Thank you for your video!

Great design. I've been struggling with the same idea of how to build a slatted bed that pulls forward but also hinges up for access. Could you do a video with more detail on how that part of the bed is constructed? Or can you point me at where you got the idea from? Thanks!
@vantravellers8 жыл бұрын
Hey Kirt, well it took us a while to come up with this idea. We live on the road therefore we needed as much espace as possible, and this is the result :) To try to keep with this way of living we have made a book, where we explain on detail and with more than 60 images how to build this bed. Please have a look in the following link en.vantravellers.com/diy-camper-bed/ Thank you!! :)

Really cool design! I only have one question. Where's the toilet? Very important for urban stealth camping.
@vantravellers8 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for your coment! the toilet could be kept in anywhere, but living in the van in permanent basis we haven´t ever needed it. From our point of view there are thousand of options when a toilet is needed. obviously you should put paper or any other rubbish where it belongs to, never on the street or in the nature.

Hi Flippin, it is from 1994, the short one, but if you had the long one you would have sooo much espacebetween the front seats and the bed. We sleep 2 people, 2 adult, actually, we live in it! it is wide enough... ask more if you need :) I hope it helps

It looks interesting but hard to see due to poor camera positioning. The camera had to much contrast to deal with because of the bright white sky with the sun and the dark interior. The camera shot should have been framed without the bright background so you could see the subject, and with the sun behind the camera man.
