Well thought out set up lad. Only think I would recommend is moving the gas cylinder out of the canopy. If it vents while the canopy is closed your electrics could set it off to explode. Some lads put them in the under tray side drawers you have so it's a lot safer. A lot of smart and very simple well thought out little builds gone on in there. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves as you begin to use it more.

Yeah, I hate how awkward it is mounting them outside the canopy but its just not worth the risk keeping it inside

It would be illegal to carry that gas cylinder inside the canopy without one of those plastic bungs on/in them. Im surprised its not in WA, also.

great set up and as said by many below - your presence on camera is great. My one observation, for what its worth, its the placement of your fire extinguisher - wouldnt it be better on the other side that is easily opened when your ladder is set up and close to the cooking?
@explorebound3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, thanks for that feedback! Regarding extinguisher, you're spot on and I agree it would be better on the kitchen side - my setup was quite different when I initially installed it there and it was before I had a rooftop tent too, been meaning to add a second one to the other side (or swap that one). @explorebound3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, really glad to hear the fit out has provided an idea or two! The aluminium tracks are just made of lengths of C channel purchased from Bunnings (the 5mm version worked well with the acrylic sheets, allowing two to pass behind each other).

@explorebound3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, I honestly can't complain about the Kings battery + box, especially for the price! Had it for over 2 years now and can't fault it - drained it lower than I should more than once and haven't noticed any reduction in charge so thumbs up from me! tip. if you replace your tap over the sink unite with a ball valve tap (bunnings) then run your hose of it when filling... leave all taps and valves on the on position it will back feed through your system and fill up your pvc tank ..and loosen the cap on top of your water tank to release the air.

Hows the kings battery been long term? Would you buy it again if you needed a new battery? Keep up the amazing content 😀
@explorebound2 жыл бұрын
To be honest I've treated it pretty poorly, flattening it to well below the recommended 12.05v many times... 😂 Despite that, it's still going strong after 3+ years, but I don't think it lasts quite as long as when it was new (probably my fault due to over discharge!) Funnily enough, I've actually just upgraded the battery over the weekend and have a new video on the upgrade coming out tomorrow.

Id highly recommend moving the mounts where the gas struts for the door bolt onto, this is how mine was when I bought it and after 2 years the entire canopy frame cracked on all 4 sides as the gas strut was putting to much pressure on the mount, the struts need to be mounted vertically not horizontally, designer fault

How much roughly does you loaded up canopy weigh and what suspension are you running?
@explorebound4 жыл бұрын
I'm actually planning on getting down to the local weight bridge in the next few weeks so will have an accurate answer for you then, but in the meantime my guess would be 300-350kg (could be way off though...). Suspension is mostly stock and struggling, it will be getting an upgrade in the next few months.
@williamwootton16144 жыл бұрын
Exploranger Ok thanks. I’m in the process of making a similar setup. I’ve got some heavy duty leaf springs (350kg) but thinking once fully loaded inc tent and steel tray could potentially looking at ~600kg +. Might need some airbags but I wouldn’t be far off GVM once loaded up.
@EMAGA4 жыл бұрын
Awesome setup matey. How much did it cost you altogether?
@explorebound4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, a tough one to answer but a rough estimate of the fit-out would be around $3k. ($800 for 12v system, $800 for the fridge, $400 drawers, and around $1000 on materials to build the kitchen and carpet the inside).
