I think if we attach a piece of Velcro to the cap it will hold the sponge. I got a hand pad which works this way and works super nice with all kinds of wax pads. I'll guess it will work with a sponge as well. Nice example how to do a super simple DIY

This is awesome and very adaptable to different tools. I agree with the other comment; that you can do velcro on the jar lid (and the other side of velcro to various attachments; sponges, possibly sandpaper) if you want to make one for which you can change the pad on quickly. I personally am going to try using a heavy plastic jar lid (some peanut butter containers have them) instead of metal, just because if I accidentally go sideways or anything like that the plastic is far less likely to scratch what you're working on (or at least not nearly as much as the metal jar lid). You could also scale this very easily; for instance, a strong plastic bottle cap could be a good attachment for a dremel tool instead of a jar lid. Another suggestion: to allow for tightening the screw a lot but making it less likely to break the jar lid (which, again, I'm going to try using a heavy plastic) is to add neoprene (rubber) washers on the inside of the 2 metal washers, so that the rubber washers are what actually presses against the plastic lids. Being able to do this as a DIY opens up a lot of custom options.. which is great for people who do DIY, +sometimes you just need one custom attachment to get the job done. I imagine you could do a similar thing with pre-made scrub brushes, but probably drilling into them/their plastic base and substituting that for the jar lid. Thank you for your video. This was exactly what I had been looking for.

Great idea thanks! Will you show how to make something similar but more aggressive / abrasive for cleaning wheels! Thanks!

Simply attach something more aggressive. Be creative how you tighten it down. It's not that hard

Imagine the sponge came off while you were buffing and you ended polishing your car body with the cap because you too cheap to buy a safer option on Amazon.

You never do that otherwise you get more heat and burn the clear coat and possibly the paint.just keep the drill steady and try not to apply downwards force
