A niche hobbyist interest in composites, a super niche hobbyist interest in non-octave scale theories, and a very milquetoast hobbyist interest in electric guitars walk into a bar.

The funk riff around 12:10 is gnarly AF

So if I understand you correctly, each string is tuned 3\13edt (~r3; ~9/7) apart?
@MattWinkler12 ай бұрын
If I understand you correctly, yes :) Each string is tuned to the 3rd fret of the previous string, which ends up being pretty close to the fifth fret on a normal guitar, because each fret is close to (12/13 or 13/12, I'm a little rusty) but not quite 1.5x the distance of a typical fret/semitone.

@@MattWinkler1 Alright, I'll assume we understand eachother, then. I've been interested in Xenharmonicity philisophically for a while now, but have not played guitar before, though I'm now considering getting one as guitar seems like one of the most flexible compromises to explore xenharonicity irl without dealing with highly opinionated software. The upshot of which is, "fifth fret" means nothing to me, but "7-limit major 3rd" does mean something to me, lol

What if you wore like a banjo finger pick thing for the high end of the fretboard. Would the hardness and smaller surface area create a punchier attack?

Mildly Radioactive Sludge Farming Accident kinda sounds like King Gizzard if they had the balls to go non-octave. Can't wait to hear the garage rock piece!

Hah thanks! I'm still very new to microtonal music but King Gizzard has definitely made it the most approachable and enjoyable so far to my ear!
