Here is the first video in the series for my DIY open source Cassette Delay effect. Overview of the schematic and how the thing works.

I literally started a similar project last week. Your design is way better. I'll be stealing some of your great ideas. Excellent work.

Steal away buddy. When change that I've made since making this video is that I added a buffer circuit to the input and output.

I started building your version of the tape delay pedal, so very much looking forward to the next part! So far I've breadboarded most of it, and I'm about to add the playhead.

That's great!

Thanks for sharing your design. Looking forward to part 2. I will be following along. As a noob photos and videos are easier for me to follow than the schematics so I appreciate your explanation. Cheers!

they are until you start soldering and have to check a mistake 😊

Really respect making this open source 🫡

This is incredible. Can’t wait for part 2. I’ve never done anything like this before but I’m hoping to make this my first project 😬 please include links to everything you used!

slight addition, that pot on the lm386 board is not gain, but volume. the gain is fixed on those modules. sorry for being a nerd. 😊

Great video ! Trying to build one of these for my college project, trying to get my head around the rec and play head. Im using a sony tcm 200dv, cheers.

Subscribed. Very much looking forward to a better explanation of this. I'm pretty sure I'm understanding it, but I'm sure once I get started I'll have a million questions...

Really cool idea!

for a cheap play head you can just get a car cassette to line out adapter, they're just a read head attached to a 3.5mm jack.

Wow that's a really great idea, those can be had very cheaply, I bet it's a good bet if you just need one. who knows how good the quality is but it's definitely worth a try

Сan you provide the potentiometers, resistors and capacitors? the schematic doesn't tell you which components you are using. Thank you!
@tupitochka88414 ай бұрын
Do you really think this matters?.. Put any.

at 10:20 you can see it is a 1 uF cap and he mentioned resistors are lower than 1k, hope that helps

It's coming soon, I have been working on a simplified version

I like how you modified the cassette with the tension arm. I've been messing with making a few different versions of cassette delays and the figuring out where to put the 3rd head is always a struggle. Nice work.
@granitsky635 ай бұрын
What have you figured out for a 3rd head? I'm working on a prototype where the record head rotates down and then you can have an array of as many heads as you wish lined up at a 90 degree angle to the cassette, the tape would just divert down to the heads and then back up to the capstan.
Are the playback heads wired together? If so, how?

Are you still planning follow up videos? I really wanna try to build this but I’m a bit shy without a few more details/instructions :) Thanks for posting this!

Yes I am, I apologize for the delay, I'm working on a good enclosure and some design improvements before I put out another video, coming very soon though
@borisf.65724 ай бұрын
I am a bit lost on the schematic to be honest... Maybe you can put little arrows (indicator) on the lines so that we can understand the direction of the signal ?
@granitsky634 ай бұрын
Yes I'll make it easier to follow when I get the next video together
