I'm doing a similar project at the moment found a Nautiglass V150 the same as this for $700 in the last 6 months I've done the floor and transom and filled all the holes in the gunwales an replumbed them. Now the exciting part of planing the fit out. Cheers for the inspiration! An yes I've done some work in the fibreglass industry for Ultimate off road campers. An the fibreglass work on these is indeed "questionable" but with that said still a great template to evolve with great craftsmanship like we see here. Cheers lads 🤙

Cheers Dylan Now I’m able to use her, I’ve found the hull shape to be excellent. A really nice ride and cuts through the chop beautifully. I added a fair bit of extra weight from more glass and heavier stringers and I guess that helps. The Merc 60 is a great match, though there is a bit of ‘prop chatter’ when in gear at low revs, which I’m told is due to the stainless prop vibrating 🤨, annoying for slow trolling. Guess I need to get the trolling motor 🙂 In hindsight I probably would have gone for lighter material for the transom, coosa board or something, or maybe a pod for some more aft buoyancy but it’s not a big issue. Overall I’m really pleased with the hull shape and performance. Nautiglass were built ‘to a budget’ but the hull design was great. Best wishes for your project, will be interested to see what you came up with?👍

Thank you! I’m keen to, the boat has been with the mechanic for over six weeks now for engine and instrument installation 🙁apparently they are overbooked 😒

I have been working on a 1971 Chaparral 15' tri-hull for the last three years. I wish I had put in a center console when I had the floor rebuilt. I still might. I like your plans and execution. I put a 2020 Tohatsu 50Hp on it. originally it had a 70 Mercury on it that was a money pit.

Thank you Larry, best wishes for your project. They take awhile don’t they? I’m still working on mine, put in a leaning post, plumbed the live well and am nearly finished the anchor well.

Did you replace the stringers and floor on the trailer? Have the exact same boat and doing the same build almost. Just wondering if it would be okay on the trailer or is it too much flex
@OzDIY633 жыл бұрын
Yes I replaced the stringers and deck on the trailer, which has rollers, but put long 30 x 70mm planks on the rollers (between the rollers and the hull) so it sat on these like skids. Two stacked, each side and one under the keel. You can see the port side support planks on the rollers at 3:22 min in part one of the series kzbin.info/www/bejne/rICvoWeaq5KBnbM The Nautiglass also had smaller sub stringers (almost batons) between the keel and side stringers, running above the chines near the keel. My new ones were roughly 19 x 42mm hardwood lengths, and I replaced these before I took out the main stringers to also help limit flex. You can see these at 2:24 min on part 1. The above seemed to work as I didn't notice any problems when I flipped the boat to redo the hull. Best wishes for your build.

What brand of paint is your seagull gray? Did you spray or roll and tip? Nice job!
@OzDIY633 жыл бұрын
Thank you It’s flowcoat from Fibreglass Australasia in Sydney. I rolled it on with small foam rollers (need to work quick they fall apart after 5 or so minutes) didn’t tip as it was going off quickly. I did get the orange peel effect, which I sanded off with wet and dry and retouched up as required. Probably not the best way to do it but I’m just a beginner and flowcoat not the easiest thing to use but came up well. Cheers

Hey mate where did you get the capping plate for the transom?
@OzDIY633 жыл бұрын
The stainless place at Brookvale in Sydney. They bent some flat bar to my measurements. I think it was 3mm thick.
