I think this is the most attention I've paid to a chainmaille tutorial.

I know this is way back video. But exactly what I've been looking for. Trying to come up with pendants or key chains for the gaming community is a challenge. D6 easy as a box/cage. But your brilliant idea of rings/ chainmale is perfect. Now going hunting for more of your videos and hope you have posted more. Your very easy to follow. Many thanks

Thanks for this great tutorial! I love watching all of your stuff. Note: I tried this design on a "standard size" D20 from Amazon, and the cage was too small. Couldn't get the top rings close enough to clasp them. But.. I'm playing with it. Trying larger connectors and adding a few rings. In general, the design is great! Just wanted to let others know that the dice definitely come in different sizes. Be prepared to make adjustments to fit yours. Thanks again, Yvonne!

Yes same here! I wonder what size d20 she has because it won't even fit my smallest one I have.

Same here....I added like 3 rings and just made a closed cage instead of one you can open

I followed the instructions exactly and double checked everything but the cage does not fit my dice at all. I tried several different dice with the same results every time. Any suggestions on how to size this larger to fit the dice? And I did order my dice from amazon . Actually the same exact ones you had the link to. Please help.

by the way while im remembering it you can use a simple bb in your craft paints and nailpolish to shake them to be mixed

For some reason, the two rings you put the lobster clasp through just aren't coming close enough together on mine. :/ I double checked the weave and ring sizes and it's all correct, and I'm not using a larger than average dice. I have no clue why I can't get this to work. >_
@backtoearthcreations6 жыл бұрын
Hey, Kristina! The mistake is on my end; my dice was smaller than average! I am so sorry for the confusion! Using a slightly larger ring size for the small rings helps accommodate a larger dice :)

I had this problem as well :( I just got my rings in last week and just finished making one and it doesn't appear to fit :( I'll futz with the rings I have...
@TinkerGnomeWorkshop6 жыл бұрын
Just FYI, I mirrored the pattern, so the biggest rings are a diamond now, and then on the 16 5/16", I connected them in twos with the 16 1/4", connected by the 18 3/16". The 16 1/4" were too big for my lobster clasp tiny hole I might need to adjust part of the diamond, though, because now it's almost too loose but at least I have a working prototype right now :) I'm going to recreate the pattern and post it on tinkergnomeworkshop.com, for anyone interested. Feel free to use it, Von!

Thank you. I couldn't get my dice to fit either and douldn't figure out why. I'll get a smaller die and try it till I can get more rings. Your the best!

I know you posted this a long time ago, but just in case someone else is wondering....I made this for a Chessex D20 (that came in the set of 7 Vortex purple/gold polyhedral 7 die set) and had to change my ring sizes and layout. I eventually got it to work using 16ga 7/16" rings with 18 ga 3/16" joining them. Instead of the 2 5/16" she uses, I added an extra 7/16" where she attached one of her 5/16" and didn't put anything on the other side. That extra ring lets the cage slip over the die, and if you have them meet on a flat instead of a point, you can join the 2 7/16" rings with a 7/8" lobster clasp quite nicely.

I knew you could coil and cut your own rings but I didn't know the name of the tool you can buy to make it simple. Would someone mind telling me the name of the tool so I can look it up and purchase it for myself, please and thank-you. Have a very lovely day!!! Yvonne thank-you for sharing your talents with us.

Hi Yvonne. How are you? I've gotten obsessed with D&D dice because of watching Stranger Things, Lol! My question is will this chainlink capture cage only fit the D20 die or all the dice?

I absolutely cannot get this to work with a standard D20... Does anyone know what sizes I actually have to use?

This is seriously awesome! I have a son who is a gamer. He will love this. Do you mind if I ask what you charge for these.
@backtoearthcreations6 жыл бұрын
Noice! I usually only charge $5 for the cages without the dice. the price with dice can vary, because some dice can be ultra fancy and expensive (like the gemstone dice sets I have seen are crazy awesome and pricy!)
@leahrenea27096 жыл бұрын
Yvonne Williams thank for the reply. Most of the gamer's I know already have the dice they like. You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you

definitely going to have to do some tutorials on styles of chainmail dice bags; the d20s are so iconic to me that it always seems to be the one most people like to showcase.

I thought this would be a fun lil gift to make for my DnD group, bought the rings in the sizes it says in the video and it's too small, it wont fit any D20. I do mostly other chainmaille jewelry so it's not like I don't know what I'm doing. The sizes just don't line up with what is said in the video to what the result ends up being. Very disappointed.
