... love the way you put it... "took more time looking for my tools than anything...so that's my style..." Its' a great video and very practical, I am looking to improve on eliminating water spillage in my coop so I was thinking of something like this. Thanks!

I have seen several variations on this idea. You made it look very easy. One thing I think I will add for efficiency is a turn out into the yard with a ball valve that can be used when the water needs to be emptied and the system needs to be flushed.

* I like the idea of using a 55 gallon barrel. I have a number of them and will use one as well * I'm going to put a heater in mine, so I don't have to worry about the water freezing in the winter * I'm just going to put chicken nipples on the barrel itself, put the whole barrel inside of their run and I don't have to worry about water freezing in the pipe or your cups. Great video.

Will those nipple screw adapters work on 3/4” pvc? Or is that 1/2” pvc? I saw these on Amazon and was thinking of getting them. However, I drilled a hole 3/8 drill bit, in my 3/4” pvc and it screwed right in. Still not sure if it’ll leak or not, it screwed in tight.

Food grade silicone seals pvc just as well as cement, takes much longer to set up.

Doesn't the water get really warm in the summer?

So far the water hasn't gotten warm but we also haven't gotten any 90 degree plus days.

Too much of a chance for chickens to crap in those. I prefer the brass lixit for birds I used then for Cockatiels and chickens .
