DIY | CIVIC SI TRANS IN A RSX!

THIS IS A QUICK DIY THAT WILL SHOW YOU WHAT IS NEEDED TO MAKE A CIVIC SI (06-11) TRANSMISSION FIT AND MAKE IT WORK ON A 02-04 RSX TYPE S. ITS A CHEAPER WAY TO GET LSD! I ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THIS , SO IVE DONE ALOT OF RESEARCH. I FOUND LOTS OF DIY IN FORUMS BUT I WASNT ABLE TO SEE ANY PICTURES. SO I MADE THIS VIDEO TO SHOW OTHERS HOW ITS DONE.

Bro!!! I bought a 03 type-s the other day been losing my mind why the gear shifting was backwards! Couldn't find anything online about it. Found out the transmission was from 2010 civic si and yeh man saw your video have to switch out the gear selector component and fix the speedometer because it doesn't move. Dang bro I owe you a beer or something doggy!

Is taking apart the transmission necessary if I have Kpro? I believe Kpro can correct the VSS for 02-04 RSX type s but I’m not sure.

You dont have to take trans apart. I used a ktuned vss converter. Not sure if kpro can adjust . I never tried it

Did u have trouble with your vss not making contact when everything was put back together?

Yes. Instead i ended up using the stock civic vss. Its way easier. All you need is the ktuned vss converter

Do you know if the LSD out of the SI transmission will fit in the TSX 6 speed?

Nice video! However, that speed sensor needs to fit tightly and the hole must be perfectly round and machined smooth like OEM. Otherwise the sensor gear may not make good contact and the O ring around the sensor won't seal, allowing dirt and water to enter the transmission and possibly oil to splash out. That's one of the few things that is IMO worth paying a machinist a few bucks to do for you unless you have the proper equipment to do it right. Other than that great job though!

100% correct. I unfortunately did not drill it perfectly. So i did the next thing and bought the ktuned converter. It allowed me to use the civi si speed sensor to my 02 rsx ecu. Super easy to do. Wish i did that from the start.

I’d assume you would of swap counter shaft gear stacks as well as add the VSS ring gear to the Si diff trans and open the Type S and swap counter shaft with Open diff. Seeing the gearings the same

I got si nhr3 and k20a3 from rsx. Putting in 86 crx. I just did the clutch and when trying to bolt the engine to transmission, found top 3 bolts are different. Left corner lines up, but other 2 seem off.

At least this vid actually shows the work, unlike that other guy's vids that shows before and after shots. I presume that knowing how to do this took some research to figure out the parts swap. So, thanks for that. Doesn't the SI use a Torsen LSD?

Do anyone happen to know what transmissions aside from the NRH3 will directly fit the 02 ep3 si K20a3 with little to zero modifications ? Just killed my transmission and need an equivalent replacement .

The 05 06 rsx doesnt require the drilling for speedo . k20z3 and k20z1 is the same plug sensor

Still good. I destroyed second gear and nicked a bunch of other gears . Swapped the lsd to another trans tho
