Thanks for the tip. I did the same thing, just bought the shims from a local shop. $1 for 10 pieces.

Thanks for posting the info, was wondering why they came with plain bearings. Some thin M20 washers may fit as well here, will try that.
@TinkeringNerd2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The idea behind the precision thickness shim is to make the gap between inner races infinitely small without them making contact. Cheers.

May I ask what punch die is that? Selfmade or bought? Thanks. Btw good video, might have to do this aswell on my freshly made PrintNC. Went for the cheapest Ballscrew/Blocks Option as well :).
@TinkeringNerd8 ай бұрын
Thank you! The punch and die is from Harbor Freight. It’s cheap, but works for small projects. Cheers.

I like your solution better, I've done a similar thing, except I had the bearings facing each other the opposite way and used a shim on the inner races
@TinkeringNerd2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! The way I did it lets me adjust the force of the angular contact by tightening up the screw nut, kinda made the most sense to me. Cheers.
@daboyakasha1012 жыл бұрын
@@TinkeringNerd You're right that makes more sense. My solution required all 4 sides of each of the inner and outer races to be directly against each other and the journals, which made adjustment impossible. Only some of the shims and bearings I bought worked due to slightly varying tolerances. Your solution doesn't require the inside faces of the inner races to necessarily be touching directly and thus you have preload adjustability. If only you made your video 2 years earlier haha!

Yeah, if only I made this machine few years earlier! But, it’s never too late to make things right. Thanks again.

Thank you. I bought those bearings from eBay. Search 7001B Bearing 12x28x8, they should come up. Cheers.

I guess the bk module is installed back wards , the bearing screws towards to motor!

Maybe you’re right, I’m not going to argue. There was no instructions with it and I installed it the way it fit best. Cheers.

You can buy bearing shims, a lot less hassle than making them and better quality…

Yeah, but I wouldn’t live up to the name of my channel if I didn’t make it myself.

I'd sure like to hear about the resulting reduction in play.
@TinkeringNerd8 ай бұрын
Reducing the “play” is achieved by selecting right size shims. Ideally, the final result has zero play.

@@TinkeringNerdhow much backlash did you end up with?
@TinkeringNerd8 ай бұрын
@@rgsparber1 I didn’t measure it at the time. Then, I crashed the machine and ball screws started making noise. I bought larger size ball screws with angular contact bearings. One of these days, I’ll replace them..

@@TinkeringNerd I tried to get regular ball bearings to work with shims but got too much backlash. Changed to angular bearings helped but I randomly see a 1.4 thou jump. Haven’t found the source yet.

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. 16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:14-21
