NEW SUB PARTY!!!!!! You know I think it all depends on what kind of style/look you're going for. Sometimes repairing the cracks looks worse than the crack itself. I've got stained concrete floors in a home I bought a few years ago,.. but in parts the previous owner painted some kind of moisture barrier or something with a dark red paint. We've been playing around with various processes for getting the paint up in prep to stain the concrete to match the rest. I'm down to using an angle grinder and a diamond or floppy sanding disk, which will take a while. I got excited with the start of you video when I thought you were gong to show how you removed the garage paint using an easy cheap process. Then bam,.. you switched rooms or sonething and applied your stain to a virgin concrete floor. Did you remove the garage floor paint or was that just to show what you didn't want to do and why? Otherwise, nice video..

Question, for a basement the sealer used, will it protect from radon? Do you need to use primer? or can you clean the floor, then stain with a sprayer with a pattern, then use a sealer? Also want to use eco friendly products safe for for people and pets.
@RinkVideo Жыл бұрын
Jay! I’ll start by saying that Im no expert in radon and that you should consult a pro! From what I understand, radon can’t penetrate concrete. When I built this house, here in Calgary, I had thought that spray foaming the basement would eliminate any concerns. But I was wrong. The City still wanted me to use a specific concrete caulking where the foundation meets the slab and then around any pipes coming through the slab. My inspection was done when it was still just original concrete so I can’t see how a sealer would make any difference. But I could be totally wrong. If you’re in the same parts as me, there’s a concrete supply store in Calgary that carry the Eco Stain called Hard Rock. They have all the colours. It’s a great store and you don’t need a contractor account.

@Rink My husband is been very resistant about this flooring because of ECHO. We had a small party in our basement for my daughter and it was so Loud with echo with the plain concrete floor that he doesn't think we can keep a concrete floor. How can we make that work? I like the look and I really do not want carpet down there. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
@RinkVideo Жыл бұрын
I’m on Team Husband here Dani. The concrete certainly causes added reverb. I have a few area carpets down which helps but my ceilings are 9’ high and I don’t have much on the walls so the sound is noticeably terrible. That said, I’m not a fan of carpet so I consider reverb to be the lesser of two evils.
