My first thought was - clickbait. But Laura doesn't do that so I watched and am really glad I did. In effect it was 'painting' the copper on and I was enthralled. Not so much thinking outside the box but redefining it completely 👍

I am an old, "old school" mechanic, who also happens to be female. I was utterly fascinated by how you copper plated the fuel tank. It looks so much better than painting it would look! It has a retro steam punk look to it now. Will you be copper plating other parts on the bike? Back in the day when I worked as a mechanic we had to maintain & repair everything on a vehicle. Not just the systems that keep a vehicle running properly, we also did body & glass repair, window tints, upholstery repair, etc. It's good to see young women continuing to carry the torch that we older female mechanics handed off to them. I hope you will help other young women as a mentor. I like how extensive & well rounded your skills are. Never stop learning because when you stop learning you stop living. Keep up the good work!

@gerrymcerlean84323 жыл бұрын
The copper finish looks great and should protect the tank from rusting but the copper will quickly lose its shine as it corrodes (oxidises). A few coats of clear laquer while it's still shiny will help it keep its good looks. Well done, Laura.

Back in the days - before you were a twinkle in their eyes - this technique was known as selective plating! And if you had a hydraulic cylinder, maybe with a scratch or groove in it, you could build up with copper, then with chrome and eliminate the damage! Great for aircraft landing gear on a carrier at sea🤗🤗 As always, the smile makes the video🤗🤗
