DIY Curtain Rods Out of Conduit & JB Weld | Cheap Custom Curtain Rods

I could not believe the prices people are willing to pay for a unique length curtain rod. I also cannot believe how easy this was and how good it turned out. Do you need a custom curtain rod? What’s the length you’re needing?

Would it be possible to make a 5 metre pole and attach each end to the walls on either side of the room - for patio doors?

Great question. I guess you could either have your brackets on the ends and just butt it to the or drill into the drywall with your curtain rod. Either way, I would strongly recommend having brackets supporting a rod of that length. Let me know how it goes.

For a 9’ window, would I even need the middle bracket? One 10’ piece is all I need and wouldn’t have to join anything. Would it dip/bend once curtains are on, do you think? There’s like steel or petrified wood behind my walls & it’s near impossible to screw things in. Maybe a whole dowel inside conduit to really help it stay straight?

Sandy, it really depends on how much weight you intend to hang on it. We have very shear curtains and only on the ends. If there isn’t much weight, you should be good without a center bracket. Thanks so much for watching.

Can you put the wooden dowel in the middle of simply because your curtain rod with so long?

Brooke, I imagine you could but a span that long would flex a lot more with a wooden dowel. That is why I used electrical conduit and inserted the wooden dowel to join the conduit lengths together. Thanks so much for watching!

@@Bettebet79 actually the dowel is only about a foot long. A 1 inch closet dowel fit perfectly inside the 1 inch electrical conduit.
