So the guy I was building this for lost interest and junked the car, we still have all the parts so we may find a better body in the future and compete the V8 Miata dream!!

Where did you get the aluminum and how Much was it also what thickness ?

Metal supermarkets it's 1/4" thick I believe it was $20

How are you going to deal with less oil capacity the part I cut off of mine held 2qrts

So the truck oil pan held 8quarts we approximately got rid of 2.5 quarts of oil witch is more than enough that same ls in a car holds about 5 so no real issues
