DIY DÔEN Skirt Dupe Sewing Tutorial! Beginner Friendly

Hi everyone! Today I am here with a super exciting sewing tutorial. If you're like me and you've been lusting over the Doen Sebastiene Skirt, wait no longer! In this video I am showing you how even as a beginner you can make this pintuck skirt. I only used 1.8 meters of fabric and it took me about 3 hours. It's such a classic item that can be paired a multitude of ways, a real closet staple.

You are my hero. I bought some fabric hoping to make this but haven’t had the brainpower to get it figured out. I have some cotton lawn picked out for this skirt. Would you recommend using lawn or staying with poplin?

Thank you so much! I think a cotton lawn will be even more beautiful since it's softer and has more drape. The original skirt uses cotton poplin which will give more structure. I think the fabric that I used ended up closer to a cotton lawn rather than an actual poplin, so I guess it's what you prefer! 🥰

I think I’m going to try out, you mentioned that 140 cm wide fabric is not large enough, how wide of a fabric should I get instead? Will 60 inch fabric be enough?

@@thequizzicalreader141 you need to multiple your hip measurement by 1.7, divide that by half and add 1 inch / 2 cm for seamallowance. If that number then fits on 60 inch fabric that will be half of the skirt tier panel! With the bigger sizes, you will need to make the skirt in 3 panels when the number is higher than the width of the fabric. Goodluck! ❤️

The video was too fast in some places for me to follow, but I might go ahead and try anyway. It seems simple enough and foolproof. My other sewed garments ended up unworn since the fit wasn't great. Worst case with this I need to redo the elastic a bit smaller or wider. =) Thanks for making this video!
