Күн бұрын

Today we're building a DIY food dehydrator astutely named the Dehydro-Tron 5000! We’ve seen experiments where you can make dehydrated food, but we wanted to know if it was possible at home, if it’s easy, and if it tastes good.
This interesting homemade dehydrator experiment is perfect for those wanting to try some cool experiments: how to make dehydrated food at home, DIY dehydrator, how to make dehydrator machine, how to make beef jerky, how to make your own food dehydrator, biltong box hacks, food dryer machine tips, dehydrating food tricks, how to dehydrate food without a dehydrator, and homemade fruit dryer basics!
If you want to test something creative and entertaining or do an activity such as: science experiment, STEM project, STEM science experiment, science fair project, science fair experiment, or a fun weekend project...watch the video to learn more.

Improvements: 1. Add a filter on the air intake. 2. The lamp should be placed above the food since a lot of food will drip while drying. 3. Add a pan in the bottom that will collect said drippings from food. 4. While cardboard is cheap, use some other easily accessible material that is less known to be sensitive to moisture. 5. Hot air rises. So air should be forced in from the top and be let out from the bottom side.

Just a thought. Checking the power consumption on the Heat lamp and power supply so you could use the smallest inverter possible and add in a 12v battery as well as a solar pannel so that you could have a complete off-grid solution that doesn't require constant sun to work.

It seems you'd be better off buying an actual dehydrator that stores more food and can maintain the desired temperature inside so you don't constantly run a heater. There's also less risk from the sketchy wiring and heat lamp in a cardboard box.

Hey KOR cutting holes on the top is incorrect. Reason: Cold air is denser than hot air or the air containing moisture is actually cool air and thus would settle at the bottom, while the hot air would rise up so instead of ventilating you are actually making the process of heating or dehydrating slower.
@raythulhu5143
@raythulhu5143 6 жыл бұрын
Heat is not important to the drying process, air flow is. That is what the heat source is for, to create a thermal current, to move the air. Every dehydrator/smoker has vents at the top.

Hot Tip : You can buy 12v ceramic hair straightener heaters on ebay for a couple of bucks, you can then run it all on the same power supply (one with more than 0.75a than in the video though. the 2.1a one i use works fine). Its what i do for my biltong (jerky) boxes. I put them in a little terracotta plate from a broken planter to keep it off the cardboard, even though i don't have them hot enough to burn the cardboard/foil.
