Thank you for this Great tutorial! I made 2 with the poster boards, one flannel (2x3) and one with batting (3x5). I used spray Basting Adhesive to hold the fabric down until I flipped the board to duck tape. I trimmed them both with cute bias tape. I live the finished product! *If I make another large board, I would not apply the trim as the logistics of glueing was both tricky and tedious. ** The Felt holds cotton fabrics just fine, and I find the batting able to hold thicker the fabrics.

good to know, thanks for sharing! And yes, you can use spray adhesive too!

I did a design wall as well few months ago by using an outside tablecloth with flannel at the dollar store instead of using batting!
@Charlie-cz3jh2 жыл бұрын
I did the same thing. However the new tablecloths at Dollar Tree don't have very much flannel on the back of them so they won't hold hardly any weight at all now.

Great for educational spaces too! If you put cotton fabric on the back of laminated sheets of paper, it will stick to a design wall. I made a design wall/board years ago and I use it to homeschool my kids!

Erica, that you for showing this design board. It’s exactly what I would like to do. Have you tried pinning into this board? Thanks …I enjoy your videos.
@erica_arndt8 ай бұрын
For the DIY design wall, yes you can pin on them as well, but you don't really need to as your quilt blocks will stick to the batting. The Felt Right Design wall you do have to use pins on as the felt isn't sticky.

Love your boards. The border fabric is perfect. When I find the time to clean out an extra bedroom, I want to use it as my sewing/craft room. For now, maybe a smaller board for my area. Love the way you did your design wall. Have you ever made a roll up design wall? Do you have any ideas about how to make one? Thank you. As always, I appreciate your videos .
@erica_arndt3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I haven't done a roll up design roll, but I think if you just quilt some batting with fabric on the back, then bind the edges and add a little tie, it would work just fine! :)
@susanmei99803 жыл бұрын
Or, mount a really wide window shade to your wall, after gluing batting on it.

What allows the quilt block to stick to the wall "like magic"? Does it just cling to the batting without falling off?

I saw this video months ago and searched to find it again. Now subscribed. Just curious, how do the command strips hold over time? Also, I don’t have zigzag. Could this still work?
@erica_arndt Жыл бұрын
So far so good! They stay in place until I move it. If you don't have a zig-zag stitch on your machine you can still make it work. Just sew down both sides with a straight stitch to hold them in place. Then put the raw edges inside against the foam board.

Can you use fleece fabric instead of batting?

I have quite a bit of fleece fabric. Can I use the fleece instead of the batting? Trying to use what I have.
@erica_arndt3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think you can use fleece as well. You can try sticking an unfinished block to it to see if it stays before making the whole thing though just to be sure :)
