In my humble observation, saving up for an extra month or two and renting a car seems like it's worth it. That said, I'd love to leave the car behind on one or two adventures and hitchhike with some of those beautiful friendly locals. Amazing video! Thank you

In Orosi, there are thermal waters, you can visit "mirador de Orosi" which is very beautiful and it is FREE. In Cartago, you can visit "sanatorio Duran". Also you can visit Prusia forest. There is a national park called Tapanti National park. In fact, Cartago is a hidden gem. Regarding the volcano, the water in the crater forms from rain water, so, It depends on the season that you go. It also has incredible views, unfortunately, when you visited there was completely foggy.

I really appreciate that you tried to cover the cultural aspects and visited the Central Valley, which most tourists miss. There were some near-misses in places you didn't visit and where I would kindly take you. There are many cultural differences between regions in Costa Rica (you may have noticed that in Guanacaste, it would have been great if you found an authentic place where they make Guanacastecan food), but it's great that your trip was not only sand and beaches. Lastly, yes, public transportation by bus may be confusing to many and uncomfortable at times, so it's great to know beforehand the time schedule (some companies have their schedule on the net) I hike a lot and we always go by public transportation. I hope that you get to visit again our country.

Amazing video!! When you took the public bus, where did you put your luggages? Did you bring them with you inside the bus or did you place them in the compartments under the bus? If it was under the bus, did you feel safe that no one would steel it? Could you have brought them with you in the bus?
@Diytravelshow
@Diytravelshow 4 жыл бұрын
Public local I take them onboard, intercity bus has the undercarriage luggage compartment. I felt safe because I always get off the intercity bus when there is a stop to make no one take mine.

Great job as you pushed it along to keep audience interest . I skimmed it as there is only so much time one can spend in viewing as the day starts soon at my time 4:55am . A woman from Sweden showed off her evoluut card that didn't charge at every use and worked at all places.You did a great job pacing and packed so much info. That is what I learn from, deciding where I want to go on recommendations. But just one request: next trip do a video of you consuming the hottest salsa and keep it on the face for 30 sec. Your audience wants it too.

Man that may be the way to see a lot in a short time but quite frankly half way thru your video I was exhausted. I just got back (12-18-19) from a couple weeks there. In the entire time up in Guanacaste I encountered 2 Ticos that barely spoke English and maybe saw 2 tourists but they were passing thru so I don't know what they spoke. I stayed put as the location was beyond beautiful and the locals either didn't see me or didn't care. Every encounter left me amazed at how wonderful the people there are. With no car or agenda I had more to do than you'd ever imagine, and my only time in a vehicle the entire trip was to and 5+ from airport and it was good and bad. But get this, for that US $7.50 bus ride that I paid for the trip back to airport the cabs first offer was $350, then dropped to $250, I half jokingly said $125 and learned a new Spanish curse word. Cabbies will tell you they can do trip that takes a bus 5.5 in 3.5 but that still cant possibly justify $250 vs $7.50. There are limited choices to get places and its impossible that a cab could have done it any faster as construction and jams are gonna be there and none of the cabs I saw were super lifted 4-wheelers so paying a cab over bus for anything but around town is dumb. Unless they know some magical off-road ways through jungle and volcanos a cab won't save you more than 15 minutes on a ride that distance. And where I was if you had to go the driver would just pull over and wait for you. Heck he did it himself and at one point was hungry so he made random stop at desolate soda and had his din, no ticos batted an eye, they just flow and if you can't switch on permanent chill-out and re-fucking-lax and check your ego/entitlement/class attitude at customs you won't do well. Show respect and gratitude and no attitude and the locals will tell you things and love you for not being a foreign asshole. Show genuine appreciation and smile and always say something nice. I'm going back to retire there as much for the people as the beauty. I don't even want to say exactly where I was because I want to move there and don't want it spoiled. And to rub it in, the entire cost mainly because I used miles and took the bus, ate at sodas (there were 0 chain places) and didn't waste money at attractions as the only close one was spider monkeys and I watched them for free just eating breakfast at the hotel. So entire trip with everything including cab from home to and from airport was less than $900
