DIY Diesel Fuel Filter change on Caterpillar 3126 engines on Calypso II

TIP i learned from my mechanic, everytime I change the fuel filter we had Diesel STP fuel injector cleaner inside the new filter, It will clean your injectors, plus removing air from entering the system. Great advise, and you will have cleaner injectors everytime you change the fuel filter.

Next time pre fill the the new filter with fuel, it helps prime the engine and prevents wicking which is a combo of a dry filter and air pockets within

No. It's a wrong ideal,.....never try that with cat 3126 motor ...

When changing that fuel filter. Top it off when you screw it on and should start right up without using the hand pump.

Thats great advice. do you keep a small tank of diesel in order to do this?

@@CruisingCalypso yes, keep a small tank of fresh diesel, and top the filter full then screw it up, that way you wont have any air inside the filter.

i think you used wrong bleeder .should be the one above the filter been the highest point . NEVER use a wrench
