DIY Disney Cinderella 2015 Live Action How to Make Blue Ball Gown

Here is a step-by-step tutorial to how I made my version of the dress that only cost me about $100 for an epic photoshoot project. I did not make it with the goal of historical accuracy. Instead I used time saving techniques that resulted in a gorgeous dress that didn’t take hundreds of hours to make.
I omitted the extra layers of ruffles that were under the top layer of the movie version of the dress in favor of time and expense. And more importantly, they wouldn’t be visible in my photoshoots of the dress. I also scoured the internet to find materials and props at reasonable prices. I share all my DIY tips for creating the dress.

I was very impressed with Disney’s live action portrayal of Cinderella as a kind and forgiving young woman and the theme of ‘Have Courage and Be Kind’. It’s no surprise Cinderella is the most popular Disney princess.

I finished the skirt yesterday and it did turn out wonderfully. I added several layers of flounces to give it more poof. I started the bodice today and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the idea of the basting spray for the bodice organza layer and the taffeta layer. I had no problem at all using your instructions. Since sewing organza is like trying to nail Jello to a tree, the basting spray kept it in place until I could sew it down. Again, thank you for this lovely video. I have played it over and over to get this right. You did an amazing job!

Thank you so much for this gorgeous video! I am making the 2015 Cinderella dress for a fundraising fashion show. I have made several historically correct garments but needed a little tutorial on the drape/sash. It saved me a lot of time to watch you. Some mistakes we don't need to make if we just ask for a little instruction. I have no qualms about using an already made pattern and dolling it up a bit. I would rather set my hair on fire as to drape a pattern! Why should we when there are so many patterns out there and we can alter them to fit anyway. Again, thank you for this video. It just showed up today on my you tube and I grabbed it right away! The dress is beautiful and your photos are really outstanding!

The dress you have made is absolutely beautiful.I bought the same pattern a couple of years ago but never used it,however now after watching you make this gorgeous dress it has made me want to make one even though I am a complete sewing novice.I shall use your lovely video as guidance.You mention that the pattern requires 3 Organza skirt pieces but you actually cut out double that of about 6-7 was that another front panel on the fold as well as the side and back panels cut out again?

@@catherinehoward7445 I cut out one of the front skirt panels and then six of the side/back panels (used 3 on each side of the front panel). You'll have to gather them pretty tight to fit all the fullness to the yoke but it's worth it :)

I agree with you Mike, Bella's dress is amazing!!! The time and materials she puts in to her dresses is impressive! My version of the dress is meant to provide an option that can be made for under $150 and in about 25 hours or less. And still looks beautiful in portraits :)
