pro tip: instead of going out of your way to purchase fabric chalk, you can just use a SOAP BAR (easy to see on the pants/shorts and easy to wash out). And if you don't have a cutting mat, just use cardboard, and put it in the inside of the pants legs.

Probably the best one I've watched to date; you can also take nail scissors and make tiny cuts around leg openings (about 1/8" apart) to accelerate that process. Thanks, happy Friday!

@@serenagoodpasture7115 vertical, at tiny intervals around the leg openings. Then, if you want a mindless task to fill a rainy day, you can take tweezers and pull out the threads to get them started, at various points around...viola! Instant distressing

This is a good technique! I've used a dremel rotary tool as well to get immediate results on place like the the pockets, zips and waistband.

I was lucky when I was a teen (in the 90s) I would just nab my dads old work levis that were already heavily distressed with worn spots from his wallet and everything. I only had to cut them into shorts and toss em into wash on heavy and WALLAH! The perfect summer cutoffs!
