Extracting honey with my homemade DIY drill powered honey extractor

Hey... put a lid on it with a hole in the center and PVC sticking out. That will prevent any honey splatter and keep the spinner perfectly centered. Also a little cpvc spicket on the bottom bucket and you'll only have to disassemble everything for cleaning at the end.

Great idea. I would recommend extending the PVC where you connect your drill long enough to put a lid on the top. You can cut large holes to watch the honey fly off the frames and the lid will help steady your PVC extractor. Great job.

I followed the other site and took some tips from yours to make the extractor. I was successful with the device, I would like to test on a couple bee frames in a couple days. My question is to you; how did you over come the pail melting with the pvc rubbing on it, when you turned the extractor with a drill? Even with a slow speed, it melted the end of the pail where the pvc rubs. Thanks, good video!!

You can also do the whole extraction in your bee yard and just bring the honey home

Very unlikely. PVC conducts very little heat. Good point, though.

The brass piece is called a hose barb. Check your drill first--I got a barb that screw directly into the PVC, and the hose side was too large for my drill:)
