(DIY Drop Shakles) Lowering Rear End of Loadstar!

In this video we lower the rear end of the loadstar to better match the hight of the front end. By doing this we remove leaf springs as well as build a set of custom drop shackles that helps us get the look we are after!

Turn the top leaf up side down. And take each leaf and Press them flat. IH has a longer shackle you can get. They are on a straight rail frame. You're is a step frame in the rear.

Did the f650 axles bolt right in without any mods? I have a 74 1600 I want to upgrade the front and rear axles. Don't want to lower it though.

Yes it bolted right up. Just make sure to get all the mounting hardware that comes with the ford axle.

Did you add extra metal to notches on frame i see the bottom bend is there wondering if adding extra metal is needed to add back to original strength

Yeah we added metal to it. And will be boxing it in later. As of now we aren’t going to tow anything heavy enough to put stress on it.

It looks plenty strong. Great idea to remove the overload leafs and the extraneous ones too. Nice work on the custom shackles. Those are not easy to build without a machine shop.

It took a lot of figuring out. And our drill press is definitely not as precise as it used to be. But they turned out pretty good.

Nice work as always you guys. Beefy shackles for sure! Love that you weren't afraid to do a static drop (I know that's been a given for awhile but still applaud the daring to be different) on a truck that size. I may have missed it, but any plans to plate around the notch? I would not have guessed 5" from front to back, but once you get weight on the rear with the bed, I bet it's closer to 3.5"

Thank you! It turned out better than I thought it would. We will be reinforcing around the notch for sure. Not sure how yet. Playing will probably be the easiest way. We think we will also have to add another leaf in the front, tho we don’t want to. But that will bring up the front a hair and match it even more.

They are 24.5 wheels shaved down to 24s. With 285/40r24 wheels.
