In this video I show you how I easily wrap beach glass to make a fabulous pendant. You can make it simple or super swirly...with my technique, you will have an elegant and professional bail with lots of room to add your own creative flair. In minutes you will have this mastered. Use a gauge of wire that will work well with the size of your object. 24 gauge (very small) to 18 gauge works well. Always use dead soft wire (the manipulation will work harden it).

Thanks again, Liz, for another instructive, flawlessly taught video. I watched a dozen videos on wire-wrapping rocks that were so complicated and confusing. Then I found your video and got it on the first try as I followed along with your instructions. You are hands down the best jewelry-making teacher on utube. Since I don't have access to jewelry-making classes, I don't know where I would be without you! Thanks to you, I can avoid getting bogged down trying over and over again to follow someone else's complicated technique while struggling to see what they are doing through a fuzzy camera haze. So I greatly appreciate your videographer,who always produces a crisp, pristine picture of your work that makes it so much easier to follow.

Thank you so much for such an easy to follow tutorial! I live 3 hours from the ocean but have my "treasure jar" of sea glass from travels to Europe. I've always.wanted to try this. My favorite found treasure is blue and white pottery, about 1/2" wide 1" long sort of a funky triangle shape. Creamy white on back but on the other side where the blue still shows you can vaguely make out a hint of some sort of flower petal, maybe? I found it on the strand at Spanish Point in Co. Clare Ireland in 2003!! I think I'll be buying some wire for a long overdue project this weekend! Thank you! Silly little beach find, but it's one of my favorite possessions.

I found an awesome beach (kinda a beach) filled ( literally) with sea glass, but I can't remember the restaurant it was behind TT.TT You couldn't see the sand at all, nothing but glass. I brought about a handful home with me, but I can't remember where I put it. Evil memory.

Really pretty! Thanks for the tutorial. Wish I could find some beach glass like that :) Do you know if you can take glass (I'm thinking my old cobalt blue plates) and sandpaper or etch them to look like beach glass? I've looked at tumblers but the thought of having one running for a week or so isn't appealing.

To answer the question of the stone falling out, you need to make sure you wrap your wire to the back of it as well as the front, getting it anchored before you do all of your deco swirls. Using your flat nose pliers, tweak your wires in the back with a little turn to tighten it up.

Ivonne Marmolejo Hi Ivonne, sure why not? All I can say is give it a try. If you use dead soft wire, you will be able to conform to the different surface textures and rough is way easier to deal with than a polished slippery stone. Thanks so much for watching and good luck!

Hi Liz. I've just discovered your channel and I think it's great. I could also picture where you got the sea glass. I know Nova Scotiabank very well. The Truro area is almost a second home, but my favourite places are Summerville beach and cape Breton. I actually have lots of stones, shells and sea glass from my last trip.

I love wire wrapping. I have wrapped a few chakra stones myself. I purchased some wire that says non tarnish on the package but after a few weeks and water getting on it it turned brown like a penny. what kind of wire can I purchase that doesn't do that? I don't want to sell my pieces to people and it tarnishes on them.

@makingiteasywithliz
@makingiteasywithliz 9 жыл бұрын
Sarita W Thanks so much Sarita for watching. You should always use dead soft wire because as you manipulate wire, it hardens. If you start with hard wire, you will never get it to hug your stone and you will want to fling it across the room. LOL ...I will be selling Artistic Wire brand non-tarnish silver plated wire on my website as soon as my designer stops procrastinating. This is a dead soft bright silver plated wire with a clear coating on it so it won't tarnish. You do have to be careful with your tools though so you don't break that coating. www.makingiteasywithliz.com

Thank you. It's beautiful! I just bought a small bag of beach glass (sea glass?) with rough edges. Can you sand and polish this in a rock tumbler? I'm thinking of buying one.. thanks for your answer and for these videos. :-)

+laweez N Thanks so much for your kind feedback. You could use a tumbler but you have to use sand/grit and leave the thing running for days/weeks. Yikes! I would Google the process. It might be easier to use wet sandpaper and smooth it out with water, switching your grits to finer as you go.

Wow, I love this. So simple, yet really beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Also, a quick question... What is the name of the tool you use at the beginning? The one that looks a bit like a hair tool. Thanks.

Thank you Claire. Are you referring to the pliers? That is a looping plier, for making various size loops and jump rings.
