The little accents hanging from the roof to the ladder to the little pulley system off the railing. It just makes it look all the more like a fairy is living there and is actively doing daily maintenance, this was beautiful 💞

The other day as I was biking along a path next to a stream, my eye caught something so I stopped and went back. There was a little meandering path dropping down to the stream that had a handmade sign on a tree that read Fairy Village. There certainly was...it was a perfect tiny village for fairies with little cottages, trees, flowers and an aura of anticipation waiting for their return. It was mesmerizing and heart melting...💙🌈💚🌻🌷

The word was going around in the forest that fairies were trying to move into that new home but they couldn't get in because the door wouldn't open 😊 Brilliant job well done 👍

Very sweet. My only suggestion to makers out there is to be thoughtful about houses made with hot glue. If you intend to leave your hot-glued creations out in nature, the hot glue itself is plastic and will not decompose. Other construction methods are possible and there are bio-degradable glues out there.
@maryinthefairyland895 Жыл бұрын
Thank your very much. I love your houses & was inspired by you! I was always wondering why you don't do any DIY videos? thanks for mentioning that. In my case, I don't leave the houses outside. I always make sure that I leave no footprints in nature after doing my videos/pictures. In case I would like to make one to leave outside, what bio-degradable glue would you recommend? best regards!
@greenspiritarts Жыл бұрын
Awww…. Thank you for recognizing my work! I have chosen (for now) to not make any tutorial videos because I hope people can find a lot of good information in my Fairy House Builders “Bible” which people can find in Amazon under my name Sally J Smith + fairy houses. It is indeed possible to make houses that are 100% biodegradable but they take planning and different fastening techniques. For example, the way you layer the wooden sticks gives very good structural strength…if I were going to use the same sticks but no glue there are a couple of different options: 1) you can punch small holes and stitch them together with linen thread or fine wire if you prefer. ( so long as it is steel wire, it will rust and go back into the earth, aluminum wire takes longer). You could also use metal brads and go thru all the layers with those. Would make a cool “old world” look. For coloring wood, if you don’t want to use paint, try very strong coffee or tea, or rub with mud and green leaves… hard! Will make a nice olive green color that blends in nicely. As far as biodegradable glues, I think both Gorillia glue and Elmers make such a product, but I’ve not used either before. For pieces I know I am going to leave in the woods, I prefer thread for binding and stitching, raffia for wrapping and strapping, linen thread in natural and black for sturdy tying together and dyed Hemp thread (comes in many fun colors) for decorative wrapping and stitching. I also use Porcupine quills (carefully!) to pin leaves together and Hawthorne thorns to pin twigs together…they are quite strong. But one does have to adjust how to put the pieces together! Decorative twigs for framing can be held in place using stitching going thru the wall materials if it is not too stiff/thick. It’s why I like Birch Bark so much for making houses that will be left outside. The bark can last for years before it starts to decompose yet you can get a big needle with linen thread thru it to stitch panels together fairly easily. Good luck and I hope you keep making more little houses and sweet videos! The world needs to be reminded that we all need a home and this beautiful earth is the only one we have so let’s share it well! - Bright Blessings, Sally

I love this! We’ve made one large gnome house out of a tree stump crafting a roof similar to this one. Made some detail work of ladder and window out of sticks and hot glue but they haven’t held up to the weather. Interested to know how these do with rain and wind. Thinking I need to use twine or floral wiring.

Sounds great! Would love to see that. Not sure if legal 😅 I always take mine with me after the video because they are not biodegradable. And I don’t want to leave any footprints in the nature. I’m working on a idea to make biodegradable fairy houses to leave outside. Don’t see a reason why that would be an issue 😅
