DIY: FAKE Magnetic Earrings! (Cartilage, Feather Earrings, Studs)

Just another simple DIY.
Materials I bought (all on eBay)
-Magnetic Discs www.ebay.com/it...
-Eye Pin
*P.S: Sorry that I didn't mention this, but you need 2 pieces of magnet to wear a magnetic earring. One in front of the ear lobe and one in back.
*P.P.S: Be gentle with magnetic earrings, they can/will fall if you move them too hard

Thanks for posting this simple DIY. Some of us can't have pierced ears, as much as we'd like to (such as hypertrophic scarring), so it's not that we don't want them; we just can't have them. Having this alternative is great.

I love the look but I don't want to sleep with earrings for weeks, I don't want to worry about infections, holes growing close etc. Plus I don't like how pierced ears look without earrings. This is the best of both worlds.

WELL SEE, I had my ears pierced. But I do soccer so I couldn’t really wear them, so the hole kinda closed.. but I don’t want to get it pierced again. So now I will be able to use this. No pain at all :D I feel so excited to have like many earrings and impress my friends. Thank you :D!!

***** It feels exactly the same way as pinching your ear with your nails! Its a quick pinch that only lasts for 1 second. Mine only hurt for max 30 mins a slight burning after the piercing and then I felt noting :) I have 2 piercings on each ear

For me, there's no pain, but there is a numbness when you wear it for a long period of time, which kinda sucks! :/

I got a pair from Claire's and they don't recommend wearing the real thing for more than eight hours it's probably the same or about 7 hours for the D.I.Y ones Hope this helps

Concerned about the health hazards of neodymium magnets and putting my earlobes between two magnets. Would love to make and wear clip on earrings that are not painful or hazardous to my health and I love this idea, but concerned about the downside of using magnets. Have you done any research on the health issues and, if so, can you share?

Another thing you could do (if you find a really cute pair of earrings and MUST get them) is, you could get regular earrings (studs or anything that has a solid area) and glue them directly on the magnets. It’s kinda hard to explain here by text but that’s what I do- except I solder them on if they’re metal (which they usually are cuz sensitive ears wtf) and they look pretty authentic if you ask me...

Just a heads up guys :3 if you need magnets quick with no time for shipping Michael's has regular magnets like these for a couple of bucks (NOT THE SUPER STRONGS) :D

Also bonding glue should cut down the drying time :3 so you don't have to wait over night just a few minutes instead

Great,I love magnets as are faster to wear and more easily pain free unlike clips.But the worst thing is my magnets,I usually wear them once and then... I get back home with only one usually :( it's easily coming off or still to some other object.

Yeah, you put a magnet on the other side of the ear too. If you put more than one magnet (or a magnet that's much bigger than the front facing magnet) onto the back of your ear, it would probably cause the whole earring to fall off. This is because the front magnet wouldn't have a strong enough magnetic pull to hold up the heavier magnets on the back. So I wouldn't do that. I hope that helped. :)

WARNING: don’t wear magnetic earrings on your ear lobe for a long period of time. It hurts after a while. My friend did that then got her real ears pierced and she said the magnets hurt way more. On cartilage, it probs will be fine but not on lobe..
