I’m soooo Happy I found this video!!!…. I had a Black Denim Bag for many years…..The Straps were made from the double seam……Straps broke… got rid of the bag…. Now I want to make my own now that I seen this video…. It will be my Second project on a sewing machine! (First was an Apron) once again thanks for your video!

The man's shirt was a size XXL so I have plenty of fabric... much more than I need. It won't go to waste. I quilt. I am going to send the purse into work with my daughter, she's a nurse, and take orders. I am a 66 year old mother of three and grandmother to eight. Your ideas will save me lots of money and ensure that I am giving a very up-to-date gift. Best greetings from my heart, Maureen Spotsylvania VA USA

I'll have mine finished tonight. I incorporated a pocket into the lining and am putting more pockets and loops on the outside of the lining before installing it in the purse. Also, I put a tab on the pocket on the inside so that it would be incorporated in the bottom seam of the pocket and will hold the pocket in the proper shape on the outside. I hate it when the pockets pooch out. I found a pair of jeans and a lovely man's shirt, both like new.

I just wanted to say thank you for your tutorial on making your jean purse(s) - I watched both videos because I like a zipper closure. I do have a suggestion about where to sew the linking on this bag, since it does not have a zipper just fold the lining to just under the waist band that way you won't have to worry about sewing through any labels and it will be easier because you won't have the bulk from the waist band to worry with! Just a thought I wanted to pass along! Thanks again! Zeza

going to do these for my kids as they get given jeans all the time but neither like wearing them and my 4 year old gets upset if we give them away. so its perfect for a kid that hates waste! thanks x

Hi Mywinniethepooh1 I use size 16 which is the normal needle, but you can use sz 14 if you are worried that your machine wont handle the thickness of the denim. It also depends on the thickness of the denim you use, because the jeans we get these days are light weight and have lycra in them.. they are easy to sew. Thank you

and i am back. left comment on part 2....Just wanted to let you know that after watching your video about an hour ago, i am now the proud owner of a tote bag, i have not lined it yet, but that i think i will leave that for another day...thank you for the video easy to follow, my only glitch was stitching the contrast material over the button hole. Thank you for doing this and uploading the video :-)

And wanted to add that I used teenager (small size) jeans to make my bag and it worked really well for a first time as they are a bit more square and hold into place much better than adult (big size) jeans. Thanks again!

while I do agree that the music is loud i was able to make it perfectly with some adjuments to the straps. Made 2 mistakes but not a huge deal. Your tutorial was very easy for me and only took a few hours to make. I love how it came out and love how it is very cheap to make. I was able to watch both volumes. I would rate both volumes as an excellent execution. You demonstrated very well so a beginner would be able to understand. Do you have a tutorial of making a jacket from old jeans?

Hi Chandana.. thank you for the comment. Just use a normal hand stitch, or even chain stitch if you know how to do it by hand... instead of a straight stitch on the sewing machine... you can get equally good results... here is a link to basic stitches you can use... hope its useful? :-) TYPE "Otis Fashion Junior Studio: Basic Hand Stitching" INTO KZbin AND THIS VIDEO COMES UP FROM OTIS COLLEGE... I have a question: what type of needle should I install on the machine? (I'm from the UK too, so which UK size needle) ? Also: can I use a pair of jeans even if they are slightly stretchy? Because those are the thinnest ones and I don't really wanna start with a thick non-stretch pair as I'm a beginner
@DANEE10128 жыл бұрын
+BessDavies Hi i dont know the answer to your first question, but for the 2nd one I can answer my best. I used Old Navy skinny jeans that were old and too short to wear there were no problems with them and the purse came out beutifukky I am a beginner as well, but found this very easy to make even with the loud music. My sowing machine s=is the SINGER Curvy Model 8763 and had no problems. I think that the pants u use would be fine because they are not very thick. :) Hope I helped...
@bessdavies64408 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your help! Did you have to change the needle? My mum told me that I should put a big sturdy needle, but I live abroad and she cannot show me in person (but she gives great advice over the phone!) What about the lining? In the 2nd part she hand stiches it, but wouldn't it be better to be machine stiched?
@DANEE10128 жыл бұрын
+BessDavies No I did not have to I have always used the same needle, and the big sturdy ones would be for bulkier cloth. As for the 2nd part of lining. Instead of hand stitched it I hot glued it with the glue gun;) You could try machine sowing and it might work but I never did. I was too impatient to do hand stitched and the hot glue works great it might not be for as long but it was my first time so wanted to see how it would look.
