How much $$$ did they save on their 8’ wall after adding the cost of renting the gun and table saw?
@NextJeneration2 жыл бұрын
A lot lol here’s what the cost would be TODAY, even though we bought the supplies pre-inflation: Two 4’x8’ mdf sheets $30 Table saw rental $32 TOTAL: $62 18- 5”x8’ Shiplap Boards: $180 And you’d still need some sort of saw to cut it to height Nail gun: We own one, didn’t have to rent. But rental would’ve been $20. Would need this tool to do either method, MDF or shiplap. Subscribe to learn more money saving DIY’s 😉

I would do horizontal only because vertical reminds me of that oldschool panneling everyone had in the 80s! I love that you used that cheaper material. I’ve wondered how that would look. I might try this in my laundry room. Thanks for the inspiration!

we only had it in the 80's because it was paneling was installed in the 70's

Looks great. Never thought of going vertical. I like it. I would have chosen the dark green on the end, far right.

It turned out beautiful. I really like that you went vertical since that direction gives the illusion of a taller room. Well done!!

Omg here's a baby tip... next time u can ask a home depot employee to cut it to size for you. They have a huge vertical cutter to cut large panels. They charge like 20 or 50 cents per cut after like the first 4 cuts
@reepicheeper4 жыл бұрын
My lowes will not cut that stuff because breathing the dust can cause cancer.
@shayraquezada254 жыл бұрын
@@reepicheeper lol thats why I prefer home depot. I believe they just gear up with mask and gloves to avoid splinters.

Nice job guy's, for others watching you could have used 1/2 inch mdf 8x4 and using a router to V groove every 4 inches to create an 8x4 panel that would have been easier to hang and paint.

Hi, would you rather paint in between the boards before putting them up? And what's the sheen on the paint you used? TIA
@NextJeneration3 жыл бұрын
Yes! Painting in between before can be helpful. But it took about the same amount of time, so really it’s a matter of if you’d rather paint them on a flat surface or up on the wall. I figured since I had to cut all around the baseboards & trim, that I would do it all at once so it was still wet when I went to roll it out smooth ☺️

Love this! 😍 you’ve inspired us and we’re thinking about doing this to our dining room wall. Any cons post putting it up with eucaboard? Is it giving you guys any issues (expanding, smell, quality, etc)?
@NextJeneration3 жыл бұрын
No cons for us! We love working with eucaboard. It’s less expensive than wood, already smooth and is easier to work with since you’re able to maneuver it around corners and doorways unlike wood!
@emmakorbel29833 жыл бұрын
What thickness did you use please for the wood? Thank you

It’s “MDF board” or “eucaboard” and it’s about 1/4” thick

I wonder how this material would hold up in a bathroom over time. Most likely would only get moisture from the air. It's a small bathroom, but vented. Any suggestions?

Not a bad question! You mean wallpapered shiplap? I don’t see why not. I would suggest applying the wallpaper on the board before cutting it into strips. Instead of trying to apply the wallpaper onto each shiplap strip
