@NikkiG Oh, hello!! I'm NikkiJ! Lol! Where have your videos been all my life?!? 😂 Your videos are amazing. Your tutelage is spot on, your voice is so pleasant and your knowledge is impressive! I've been making clothing only for myself for a while now and I would like to dip my toe into making clothes for my husband. Now I find you! Seeing you create this man's flannel shirt got me thinking about getting some for my sewing room! I'll be looking for more videos from you, ma'am. Thank you so much for your instructional wisdom and my God bless all of your efforts. ❤ Have a blessed day!

Nikki you are a life saver! I'm a quilter & took garment lessons over 50 years ago! Patterns have changed so much and you are so right about them not being very clear. I've been looking for a button down shirt tutorial and got lucky and found you using flannel which is my choice of fabric. You definitely have a new subscriber. Thank you so much for going slow & precise. Happy sewing & God Bless you!

Forgot to mention....you are hilarious too. I just roared about your comment of your mom noticing the plaid not matching. My mom would be the same way. I just wish I could share my new creations with her now.

Ok, so I've watched all 4 of these flannel shirt videos you've made. I bought the same pattern and similar flannel fabric. I'm making the two pocket, shirt D. I'm nervous as hell, as this will be only the 2nd garment I've ever sewn (I'm a quilter). I guess it's time to either sink or swim. *EEEEEK* Hoping your excellent videos get me through this.

You can do it. A shirt is a slow-sewing project. Lots of topstitching and detailed stitching. You will be very happy with it - then make another one

@@NikkiGSewingMyStyle Thank you for the reassurance, Nikki. I appreciate you. I've already made my first newbie mistake. I assumed the pattern I bought was for all shirt sizes listed on the back of the pattern package. It isn't. I bought the pattern for the smaller set of sizes instead of the size 46 I needed. I'm laughing at myself but will try to exchange the pattern I bought for the right size set. Live and learn, eh?!
@NikkiGSewingMyStyle3 жыл бұрын
That’s too funny! So when I made my brother the 46, my mom asked for one and I thought I had all sizes as well. I had to go buy the smaller size patterns too. It happens!

@@NikkiGSewingMyStyle Oooh good point! I should keep the smaller sizes for my daughters and myself and just buy the bigger size for my husband and sons. Thanks again! Will you be posting a video of making your mom's? Will the pattern need to be altered for a woman's curves or do you just make them same as for men?

People iron on light weight interfacing to the patterns to have them last longer. I can’t stand tissue paper lol. I always rip it! I plan to trace all my patterns& buy A0 copy shop to trace for my pdf patterns.

I love your videos Nikki and your personality! I was hoping you could tell me where you buy or bought the material for this flannel?

I get my flannel seasonally - this one came from Blackbird fabrics in Canada. You can also find shirt weight flannel @melanatedfabrics online/Atlanta) (or @Mood fabrics online/nyc

Do you interface the front pieces or back pieces? Im assuming front because of the button holes. Please advise thank you.
@NikkiGSewingMyStyle Жыл бұрын
Interfacing is used on the front facings (button side and the button hole side), the collar, and the cuffs

Are you cutting your patterns on the wrong side of the folded fabric?
@NikkiGSewingMyStyle Жыл бұрын
On this fabric "no" ... I'm cutting on the right sides so I can match up the plaid design. But typically I will cut on the fold with right side of the fabric inside. Hope this is helpful.

Hello! I ordered this pattern to sew along with you but my fabric is a sherpa lined flannel. Can this fabric and pattern be used together with success?
@NikkiGSewingMyStyle3 жыл бұрын
Yes, The back and front easily - consider contrast/complimentary fabric for the two collar pieces, the front bands and the cuffs. Someone from the last class did it. If you have not made a shirt before, the only challenge is combining your Sherpa flannel with the regular pieces that get interfaced. Hope this helps. More questions are welcome
