7 жыл бұрын

This is a DIY all about the wood water bottle Aka "Bushmen's Water Bottle" i made on History's Alone season 3 you see me drinking out of in like the 3 or 4 episode. I will show how to make a wood water bottle like i made on Alone while i was out there in Patagonia. And at the end we will see how much the wood water bottle i just made holds and how much the wood water bottle i made on History's Alone holds. So when this is over you will have the knowledge you need to DIY get out there to build your own Bushmen's Water Bottle. And you will be on step closer to surviving the wild!!!

I love how this channel isn't "hardcore" survival, and you make it suitable for adults and kids to learn. I got into loving bushcraft and survival by watching a show like this, where survival didn't scare me, but it also didn't look easy. That's why I love it!

Bushcraft Baxter , Great show, great demo! Do you think a little pine pitch on the cotton fibers would have helped with the bottle made in Patagonia, or would it have dried up, losing its sealed? I have zero knowledge of this, and even less experience!!

I'm not sure if you noticed but there's a small human stuck to your back in the beginning of the video. No pine sap to waterproof/glue the bottle on the outside?
@FowlersMakeryandMischief
@FowlersMakeryandMischief 7 жыл бұрын
That's a little sparrow on my back:) sap isn't necessary but if it's not used all the time would help reduce the speed of shrinking and swelling so it's ready to go whenever you need it I bet.

The sap or tar would work but it tastes funny to some people. The old shipbuilders used to roll rope in tar and sap before inserting it into cracks between boards to waterproof their boats.

I was curious about Dave's rationale for bringing a teapot in his 10 items. That is an interesting find. I feel bad for Dave. He didn't tap out and he wasn't injured. He was still competing when he was medically removed due to his strategy with his food supply.

That bit about the axe gave me a laugh, I just watched an episode of the second season of Alone where someone uses its axe wrong and ends up pretty hurt, before that I was like "that's not how you want to use an axe" haha. I'm not mocking anyone though, I sure as hell wouldn't be out there doing those things.

Being a Bushman of course I am I'm sure you know that if you had collected some of that maple syrup or maple sap I should say and cooked it down into syrup you could use it to stick your two pieces of wood together prior to tying them together and that would prevent leaks as the sap hardens and dries in theory you could even soak the wood in the heated sap in order to protect the wood from breaking down as well just a thought

So I was talking to the Bearded woods man when the first show came on. You did like three takes on camera trying get the introduction right.I told him you would win because you were a perfectionist. But you dang near lost because you worked yourself like a horse! I think I'm going to love this channel. Congratulations! PS I got my Cold Steel shovel about a month ago. Love it! You should try Cold Steel's Gurka Kukri. It's amazing. I buy knives and blades all the time. I spend way too much. And that tool ounce for ounce is the most deadly efficient cutting tool short of the expensive Japanese Swords.
