OMG, this is so genius! I already own several outdoor corded power tools that I can use this for... snow blower, leaf blower, weedwhacker, pressure washer. I can even see this being useful if I ever want to make the switch from a gas powered lawn mower to electric. Perfect and cost effective over the long run! I can't believe I've never seen this before or anyone else come up with this idea. Love it!

There was a similar project in a book from a few years back... give or take 30 or 40. Was about making a type of bag that had a battery attached that you would plug tools into. Also recall the same book teaching you how to recharge non rechargeable batteries as well as giving a very tame explosion, fire and death warning. Was an interesting book; if I remember the name then I'll post it as I'm sure some might enjoy it.

Nice solution but I think using two of those ~57v DC batteries in series without the inverter would have been better... you can also take three 40v tool batteries in series. The universal motors in the leaf blowers work just fine with DC or AC I have found. I ran my 120v AC leaf blower on about 80v DC for a while, then I eventually just bought a nice all in one cordless leaf blower that just works.

LOL! A fun video! Alternatively, since the series motor in that blower would run perfectly well on direct current, you could eliminate the inverter altogether and put two more of those 48 volt batteries in it’s place. Similar weight and bulk, three times as much run time, and, at 150 volts, a bit more power! You may need a better switch in the blower, or at least a condenser across the stock one, to successfully interrupt the DC when switching it off. THAT would be FUN!!
@jdeadman4 жыл бұрын
I have done something similar with my corded Weed wacker. But since the 120V is alternating you only need about 80V DC to get the same if not more speed. Way lighter and more efficient

@JRP34 жыл бұрын
Did you consider using a larger higher voltage battery for the original cordless blower? Higher voltage should make the motor spin faster and the larger battery would not have as much voltage sag, and you wouldn't have the losses from the inverter. Of course the motor might not like it if you go too high with the voltage.

Nice. I was thinking there must be a way to do this, but would like to see it without the inverter. Do you think that is possible?
@007080464 жыл бұрын
He is using an AC blower with a battery power source so he needs an inverter unless he uses a DC blower , which he showed us , isn't as powerful.
@Dogburt_Junior4 жыл бұрын
@@00708046 depends on the motor. BLDC motors can be very powerful. The AC motor is running at ~1kW while the DC likely isn't doing more than 20A @20V, or about 400W. If you upgraded the motor, controller, and batteries to be capable of 2kW then you'd have a leaf blower than it twice as powerful as the one shown.
@jimmac5214 жыл бұрын
