I just finished this project following the instructions as you outlined. Thanks very much for detailing this out. It came out perfectly. I had to laugh at your comment "Tricks are for kids", because I knew exactly what you meant. I used similar colors for my blocks and they came out really cool, can't wait for our family pool party as I am sure this will be a hit. Also, I am going to make more sets and use them as gifts. Two suggestions, I used a sanding jig (home made with 2x4's and clamps) to clamp multiple blocks together when doing the sanding so you can sand many blocks at once without holding them one at a time. Second, I added 1/2" Rubber Bumpers on the bottom of the storage box so the bottom of the container won't get scratched. Just a suggestion. Thanks again, awesome video.

So what do you think of this game table / storage box for the Giant Jenga game I built in the previous video? It really makes playing the game a lot easier since it's a flat, smooth surface, and you don't have to bend all the way down to the ground to grab lower pieces. I thought it would be a cool, handy-dandy detail to build it big enough to store everything away too. (Oops.... I just noticed a typo on the graphic I added to the video. I meant to say 1/2 sheet of 3/4" thick plywood .... not 1/2" sheet of 3/4", which doesn't make any sense.)

Hi, I am hoping you can help me! Your tutorial was wonderful. I am having trouble though. We cut sanded (very well) and used the same wax you used in your video, but many of my pieces aren't sliding. The seem stuck in place. After setting up the game you really have to jab to get some to budge at all which makes the tower spill!! Any advice on what to do to get the pieces to slide better?? Hoping to play at the family Easter party but not so fun when they don't slide. Thank you for any help!!

you sanded them to smooth. I made 2 last year and it's a lot fun!

I sanded it with 60 grit and then 100 grit, then used the Minwax paste as described in the video, the blocks slide perfectly. It's a lot of work to sand correctly, and apply the paste but if not done correctly, I can see how it would not slide.

+william faulkner Hey thanks. This is really a pretty simple project that you can cut your "diy" teeth on. A little bit of measuring, cutting, and sanding. That's it really. I was always the kid trying to build projects like wooden go carts & tree houses (although I wasn't any good at all) and I'm a fairly big cheapskate, lol, so I try to do things myself & pay with sweat equity if I can.

Have you ever made a flower box? I need to make an oversized one, about 100" long, and don't know where to begin. Feel like your videos are helpful and easy to follow, so if you ever build one, def lemme know!

+Lee Mulkowsky I haven 't built one myself, but it should be fairly simple. If you don't need 100" exactly, I'd suggest using standard length 8ft boards (96") just to help keep it a bit cheaper & easier.

+Lydia Casimiro This was the only one I've made. Sorry. You could make it with a simple handsaw, a cheap drill, and a sanding block if you wanted. It's a fairly simple project.

I made the game and the game table/ storage box last week. It came out great, but I struggled with the handles. I think I was overthinking the measurements, so can you give more details on this for me? I watched your video over and over and over. It is probably my lack of experience in measuring, but I want to make sure I have everything cut exactly where I am supposed to cut it.

+Catherine I just centered the handles on the sides and made sure they cleared the tops of the jenga pieces when they were stacked inside, so my fingers wouldn't be blocked. I made them 6" long, I used a 1-1/2" diameter hole saw bit to cut the circular ends out, and then used a jig saw to cut the longer straight edges. If I remember right, the edge of the box (the actual handle part you grip) was bout 1-1/2" wide for strength, so that it wouldn't snap when you picked up the box.

How heavy is this? Would you need two people to lift the container of blocks?

Drew Spiegel I have carried it around myself, and my wife has picked it up, too. But it's much easier for two people to carry it. It's like carrying a cooler full of ice and drinks. My guess is that the set I made is around 70 pounds.

I don't remember exactly, but it was pretty heavy. Seems like it was about 75 pounds or so.

Now add little pcs of rubber or carpets in the corners to not ruin your work or floor, also little wheels n detachable handle would b perfect!
