suggestion - use can use a wooden clothes pin to hold your card stock while using the embossing heat gun or a chip clip

Just so I am clear on your question. Are you talking about donating Cardz for Kidz? If so we are not doing Holiday cards for them. If you are not then I don't see why you can't use this DSP for holiday gift cards for the kids in your family.
