Pretty straight forward & a nice alternative for a boys graduation, instead of the common flower lei. I will say the video only shows 16 bills - not 17 as comments suggest. Thats what I used & it came out great. I wanted to gift $100 so I went to the bank for crisp bills & planned those bill denominations out accordingly: (8) $10, (3) $5 & (5) $1 for a toal of 16 bills. Can I use rope or ribbon instead of floral wire?

You might be able to get away with using ribbon only if it's tight enough. The rope would be too thick. I found floral wire to work the best.

How do you wear it after it's assembled? Will glueing a pin on the back be strong enough to hold the weight without it sagging down?

After you assemble it, you should have a good length of wire left on the back to attach it to a box, a ribbon lei, or any other place you want. To make sure you have enough wire, you can double the measurements I give you in the description of the video. Use a 6" round button pin to make sure it won't sag.
