A lot of people use Portland cement. Water you add bit by bit until you get a thick porridge mix. It is trial and error with the water it comes with practice. Hope this is helpful to you.

yeah at first I was like oh wow that is a good way to shape the nose for a gnome and then gradually I was saying wait.....what is being made here....still not sure what the final product was supposed to be. However, this gave me a GREAT method for making little gnomes using 1 sock instead of making it in parts.
