I always decide what pen I'm going to put in the notebook before I make a pen holder. The thin pens and pencils I do a 3/8" side and the thicker pens i do the 1/2" like you showed. I love using the RSVP pens by pentel because they have the clear barrel and I can unscrew top and put a curled of piece of coordinating paper inside so pen matches.

Thank you for your message and questions. Magnet will not affect the cell phone because of the thickness of the board. I think you can place note pad on a left hand side but make sure you place sticky notes and cell phone case as per mirror image of the page I have, so to the right hand side you will need to have 1/2" space between spine and sticky notes (this will give you enough room for the pan), after stickies place ell phone case. I have cell phone case with the magnet, but it’s not directly contacting the phone. In this project there is thick board separating both, it will be similar affect as my phone case, no close contact.

I did a quick Google search...it would have to be a really strong magnet to cause damage. Household magnets would not cause damage. But you should do your own research to calm your concerns as I'm just a random stranger. It took me less than 5 min to find and read a few articles on it.

I loved this so I made one for my daughter. Turned out georgous BUT...a word of warning. Got folio done and went to make phone pocket....Her phone was thicker. I adjusted pocket but NOT spine width. Its ok but it bulges. Ruining a beautiful folio. Learn from my mistake! 😢😢

I am glad you loved the design, but I am sorry that you had to deal with the thickness of the cell phone. My design was based on my cell phone dimensions and you are right about the thickness. Thicker cellphone will affect the width of the spine.
