Many computer video games involve a lot of rapid mouse clicking. But there are limits to how fast your finger can click and how long you can keep it up before your hand starts to ache. So I modified a mouse to add a rapid fire button to it. That way you can rapidly activate the clicking function by simply holding down one button.

Honestly, I wouldn't use a rapid-fire mouse button for anything competitive. Most competitive games are about knowing when to click, not clicking all the time. I WOULD use it for D3. :D As far as those commenters who call this "cheating", you should realize that it is very easy to hard-code a click-per-second limit. Any game that wants to cut down on auto-clicking can do so.

Actually you can get infinite cookies by this simple thing: Right click the cookie, click Inspect or Inspect Element, go to console, then type "Game.Earn (999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999)" close the inspection tab and boom

I'd suggest adding a small potentiometer to adjust the click rate, as some things require different click rates.

kerberos623 actually that would work since you can adjust the potentiometer freq=1.44/((R1+R2)*C1).....C1 can stay the same and changing R1/R2 will change the frequency If you put the sweeper of the pot to pin 7 of the 555 you can adjust both R1 and R2 at the same time

You could maybe use a potentiometer in place of, or in addition to, the resistor, to get an control to adjust the clicking speed on the fly, even while the button is pressed. Assuming of course, that I understand how this modification to the mouse is supposed to work. I assume that the resistor limits the current given to the capacitor, and the capacitor stops current flow until it builds up a high enough charge, and in doing so, acts to create electrical pulses. A potentiometer works by limiting the current depending on what position the nob is turned to, so less resistance = more current = less time between pulses = more rapid clicking.

hey does it work with Mylar capacitors or does it make the computer think its one click? Cause i made a circuit like that on a breadboard and i used a mylar capacitor and i put a led and a small speaker to it and the led wasn't blinking slow and the speaker made a low high pitch noise.

Most FPS games have measures in place such a max fire rate so rapid fire wont work any better then clicking. But i do have fond memory's of binding fire to the scroll wheel in UT.

can this work with newer mouses like CONNECT IT Biohazard ? I tried it and it made that red diode flash fast, so I dont know if anything was wrong or newr mouses are different so they cant be modified.

you can mod any thing but the circuits on the mouse might have a different layout or there might be a short

I cannot seem to get more that 5.5 cps ... when I increase the resistance of potenciometer, it starts missing some clicks and then even stops clicking ... could that be the limitation of my mouse or the 555 chip ?

Maybe replace the 555 timer with a microcontroller, like an ATTiny45. Same form factor, but you don't need the resistor and capacitor anymore, and you could program variable delays so it looks like an actually human is clicking. No software would be able to tell the difference and get you banned.

Don't overuse autoclick, mix it with regular clicks, and of course be more realistic and make it output 13-15 CPS maximum. It's just gonna look like you're switching clicking methods from regular to jitter clicking, for example. If you want it for cookie clicker games, set whatever limit works for you. You can add an potentiometer to change the switching frequency. But cheating doesn't make you the best if you can't control your cheats.

Whenever I power the 555 from the USB I get "Unknown USB Device" and the mouse stops working, If I power the 555 separatly from another USB port it works. Any ideas how to solve this?

If you trying to connect only that 555 it cant work, if there is nothing that reads the USB,if you have Arduino, use it as help to connect it in USB

Depends on the game, but if some games register consistent inputs with delays that are too perfect to be human, you could be in some shit. Just not worth messing around with things unless the game is free and you don't care.

The hack could be applied to wireless mouses as well, but it is more tricky. But it will drain your battery, even when the speed button is not pressed. And you need to be carefully, which power pin you are using. There pins which are powered when the mouse is in idle/power save mode and pins which are unpowered during idle. Using a pin which is unpowered during idle, would minimize power consumption. Best would be to start with a cheap wired mouse and when that is working, apply what you learned to the wireless.

Isolates the IC from the switch. Pretty much what Riccardo said. Without the diode, you would have 5vdc back feeding into the IC and ultimately burning something up. Would make for a nice hand warmer on them cold days though, lol

Halick True but, these are still easy to uncover. Most competitive games have measures to prevent this, even if it is hardware based. Humans can not repetitively press at perfectly timed intervals with perfectly timed let-offs, not to mention the speed.

If you do that to an xbox controller, you could get banned from xbox live EDIT: I could be wrong about the ban from xbox live, it looks like some developers would ban you from match making from thier games for modded controllers. It wouldn't surprise me if it ws in the xbox live TOS said something about "modifying equipment".

Tenocticatl My theory is that the game or system can detect if you are doing something that is not humanly possible like hitting a button at a consistent rate or at a really fast rate. Its been a while since I seen a video or forum post saying "I got banned or suspended for tampering."

Moped Viking It is possible for a system to tell the difference between a genuine controller and a third party controller. So developers do have the ability to compensate for a turbo controller. There could be a situation where a game could detect a turbo controller button push and just treat it as one push. Now if a system detected a standard controller doing something that is not humanly possible, then a game developer or system could consider it tampering.
