FINALLYYYYYY someone gets the feathered look, and remembers how we used to do it on ourselves back in the day. Oh thank goodness i found your site. no hair dressers of today know what feathering means. Thank you and Rock On

So sorry I missed your comment for so long. Yes, it is hard to find videos showing a long layered cut with short layers at the top. My daughter and I can't understand why it's almost impossible to find them. I will make another video soon of me cutting my hair leaving the back longer. Just waiting for it to grow out a bit more. Thanks for your comment! x

@@HandyLady many hairdressers nowadays don't know what short layers on the top means even. All they do is curl hair for some "beach waves", leaving half hair to cover one eye. It is so irritating, enter the salon with both seeing eyes, leave with one eye and some stupid waves that everyone has. Thank you for really refreshing tutorial

Looks great on you! Did that haircut in the 70s. I'm 67 did myself again. Brought back the curls, less weight on my damaged neck from an accident. Haven't dyed my hair in 20 years detoxed my body, became a vegetarian ate only at home, homeopathic & herbs only for meds & only all natural products. Much to my SURPRISE my youthful natural hair color came back & my once grey hair is gone! Was a long hard road to healing from Fibromyalgia that set in after a bad car accident, but worth every step! Doctors said If I did not do it their way (surgery & meds) I would be in a wheelchair in a year. I chose a chiropractor instead & acupuncture for awhile. 20 yrs later doing great, looking better...Never tell a woman she can't :) You are an amazing lady, as lovely as your daughter, keep being you! Age is just a number, staying young at heart is the key, can tell you have that :) My husband got injured too, but has healed right along with me. You could add Happy to your title as well :) Thank You for the uplifting Video!

Lots of bouncy wavy hair! Looks great on you and this is such a great way to cut hair. My hair is only just barely below chin length, and it still works for me. I do have very fine, blonde going grey hair that has thinned as I get older (72), but I do have some waves and have quit using any products besides shampoo, conditioner and a tiny couple drops of argan oil once in a while. It just feels good now without all that build up of chemicals. Hair spray is even gone! Grey hair has enough of a frizzy look without adding any other drying products. With it being so baby fine, many moisturizing products just leave it looking greasy and flat. Thank you for a great video!!

This is the best and easiest hair cut and look. 5 years and going was doing. Then grew it out to shoulder length in 6 months. Sick of it already. Not paying salon for color or cut. Why? Coloring is easy. Conditioner from most is wonderful, free with haircolor. Where you position the pony tail important. Long layers at hairline. Where you have at crown gives more ease to layers. Spray or scrunch and go. Love it! Will send before and after when done.

I'm growing mine a bit longer again after having this cut for several years. I love this cut but feel like a change and want to have long hair again...maybe long grey hair. I might be like you though and go back to the shag cut. Please do send me the photos and I will add them to the post on my blog. Good luck! x

Indeed! I grew my hair to long layers, and now my curls and waves are not behaving in the least! I'm going to shag it again this week, though a bit longer than hers. I just looked up a couple videos to see if there are easy methods that may be better than mine. I like how she finished the back, so I'm going to do that. Everything else she did is how I do it.

My hair used to be straight, and my favorite cut was a shag. Now my hair is wavy/curly, and the shag is still the way to go. It works for just about any hair type and face shape!

It would look good as long as it's not bang straight. It will encourage curl.
@morgansheric2 жыл бұрын
Ok. I did it. I stopped the hot clinging one length around my neck. As said, I had a razor cut shag at 19 forward. 66 now. Still looks great cool. Put the rubber band not at top of crown, about 3 inches forward. Cut 4 inches off pony tail. Still, just at shoulder. Prior to cutting, I colored - 2 days after I cut on dry hair. Turned out great. All dead ends gone! Used spray gel and hair spray at roots to lift. Scrunch and hand lifted. Done. 5 minutes or less. People, if Ivana Trump would have had this cut and modified her up-do or even get rid if it for her age, she would have looked younger. Draping and framing the face with your hair is #1 for we older women who refuse to go helmet-head short dos. My mom called that name...fits...lol Break out! Cut and color till the end! One thing you can control is how young your hair looks. Will post photos when time permits.

Well done! Looking forward to seeing the photos. Yes, Ivanka would have looked so good with it!

I do the same thing, but just wet it, comb it all towards my face, trim it at eyebrow level. Skitter cut the front sides and trim the back just like you did. It brings out the waves immediately if it's wet. It might be worth it to buy a really good pair of hair shears; Amazon carries nice ones including thinning shears which can help trim and lighten the back part.

I'm curious: why did you choose to do high pony initial cut followed by angling the sides, instead of front pony you did on your daughter? Results seem similar but can't be sure I'm not *missing* something...is there a method to the "madness"? Both look great!

I was wondering how you decide how much bangs to have? like how far back do they go if that makes any sense
@HandyLady4 жыл бұрын
I just pull forward all the hair that would reach where I cut. If you make your main cut as short as mine, you can't really go wrong with the fringe as only fringe area hair will reach the fringe cut line anyway. You want to gather from the top going down in a triangle all the hair you can gather to the bridge of your nose. Then hold it close to your nose, comb it and cut halfway down your nose. You will learn over time what lengths suit you best. Good luck!

Question from a non-hair doing knowing person : What is their hair drying machine? I have seen them in the store but are they especially made for curly hair my hair is absolutely string straight, would it help my hair any to dry with that or should I just dry it upside down with a hairdryer and then hot roller and curling iron it as usual?. Thank you for any advice you can give.!
