DIY Halloween fire pit prop

In this video I'll show you step by step instructions on how to create your own fire pit prop for this upcoming Halloween season.

I am doing one of these right now, and used a foam board inside of a heavy duty black plastic bag, sprayed that with Pam. Used the bowl idea from you to create the great shape. It easily released because of the oil spray. Thanks! It was great to watch and helped me figure out how to do this😊

I've been scouring KZbin looking for a way to make a fake campfire prop for our Trunk or Treat and I just gave this a try. It came out fantastic. Since I didn't have access to power, I used 1 white and 1 orange led battery strings and an orange solar charged battery string for underneath. A suggestion I ran across on another video somewhere from a commenter was to use fireblock foam because it is orange, so I used fireblock as the base and came back with white on top. It really looks great.

I've made a bunch of these type props. Not sure what kind of lights you used, but be sure to only use LED lights in these props. The regular string lights will overheat once insulated by the foam and could cause a fire. Also, if a light burns out, you have no way to fix it. By using LEDs you get a much longer lasting and safer effect. Looks good though. Not enough people go the extra mile and use real sticks for added realism.

Alternatively you can lay plastic down over the wood. At worst some of the plastic sticks but you can cut it off.

I know this is an old video.. tip..use parchment paper under your project.. nothing sticks to it and it's reusable. Also.. use a brighter bulb say..7 to 15 watt red led bulb instead of string lights under your fire pit.

So I grabbed orange lights at home depot I'm making a fake fireplace insert like this.. how long can I leave it lit without worrying of that foam burning

I was told later on that putting an LED light strip in instead would be a safer move to avoid any burning. I haven't left the lights on for more than an hour to test if any burning did accour so I can't confidently say more than an hour would be safe.

You did not cover the lights at all. You can see the lights and the cord. You should have sprayed foam over the lights. There are much better tutorials out there.

You should have layered the foam a little thinner and buried all the lights, but the rest is great.
