I've watched several of these, and am starting to think I might just keep the spare in the SUV.

How many times has it hit the ground (going over high rocks, speed bumps, etc.)?

Mine, would be destroyed if I mounted it there.

Did you change the size of those tires on the trailer and if he did what size did you go with
@ElementofAdventure3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I went from the 12 inch rims to the 13 inch rims. The size of the new tires are ST175/80D13. I also upgraded the axle and hubs so I have the 5 lug hubs, but I believe you can get 4 lug 13 inch rims.

Any issues in the months since you've had this set up? Also, why'd you go with the 2" inch superstrut and not the lighter, less expensive 1.5?
@ElementofAdventure3 жыл бұрын
Is your question about the superstrut referring to the trailer as a whole or just the tire mount? The reason I used the 2 inch on the tire mount is because I already had them pieces laying around, but you could use the 1.5 inch for that with no problem. If you are talking about the entire rack on the trailer, I went with the 2 inch because I did not feel like the 1.5 inch would provide me with enough support. I have not used the trailer much since I rebuilt it, but the only issue with the trailer as a whole is the protective coatings on the wood did not hold up and they have started to rot.

@@ElementofAdventure When I go to Home Depot's website they only show the 1.5 inch, no more 2 inch?! 2 inch sounds better.

Excellent video tutorial. Short, visually descriptive, correctly done --and it even includes a concise, complete parts list. ---Oh.. But wait... No free popcorn, to enjoy the short flick??? VIDEO GETS A THUMBS DOWN !! ...Jerk.

I’m sorry, but I was unsure if you wanted butter on your popcorn. Next time, I will send a variety of popcorn for your pleasure.

good luck with that holding the tire up after a while of it going over bumpy roads and other load bearing changes. thatll break off the 2 holding the tire soon.

I don't think it's as easy to mount the tire as the video portrays. Holding up a 40lb wheel with one hand (bolt in the other) while lying on your back under a low traier and installing a bolt isn't as easy as it appears. That part is missing from the video.
@elcomandante9299 Жыл бұрын
Bad design. Try gettin the tire off with seized bolts.
