DIY: Hardwiring a RADAR DETECTOR in an 2024 Ford S650 Mustang

This is a super hepful video. I was thinking that hardwiring would be a little scary for me, but it looks very straightforward. I'd love to get rid of that big ugly cord to the cigarette lighter plug.

Will this work on my 2023 Mustang GT Premium? Will I find the same wiper sensor hookup as you found in your 2024 Darkhorse Mustang? Just got done following your video and installing my Escort Redline 360c. Seamless installation. I had to be extra careful because I had my whole windshield tinted at 55%. That being said the other critical part was popping off the trim piece to get to my mirror tap plug. I'm glad you had this video, because it showed me exactly where the clips were located. Mine happened to be white instead of yellow. Tested the radar detector with the accessory power on and it turned on. Shut the power off and the detector stayed on but forgot to actually open the door to shut off the power. Worked beautifully! Thank you for taking the time to post this on You-tube.

Thanks for posting! With a plastic auto trim removal tool the plastic cover pops off easily. Got it all put back together except one clip near the top of the windshield. The smallest power cord works but the contacts are a little loose when plugged into the rain sensor connector. Most time consuming part of this was getting the blendmount set because of such little space to work with.

I don't know about the Unidens but the Escort shuts itself off after 4 hours so no battery drain after that. Does Uniden not do that?

I bought that usb to rj11 adapter and it wouldnt power my r8. Not sure how it worked for you because other people said there isnt enough power for the R8 and it doesnt turn on or turns right off

You need to be really careful. The housing does not come off very easily. I unfortunately also removed the piece that it connects to the window and I am really screwed now. It just popped right off. Its only held on there by some dual sided stickers. I am a bit of a pickle now and regret doing this. Anyone have any clue to how to refasten the mount with the sensors back to the windshield that would be really helpful.
