Turned out very nice! However, I wonder how you managed to have the blance exactly right? Since it is a natural log, the geometric center might not actually be alligned with the center of balance...
@robinwilliamson95 Жыл бұрын
Thanks man 👍 simple answer is… you’re absolutely right, it’s probably not perfectly balanced, plus it’s not possible to know if I removed exactly the same amount of material for the hand pockets. But because it was a telegraph pole it was milled really evenly and I measured really carefully, so it feels pretty evenly balanced in the hands. Still going strong though, you should give it a shot, great Saturday project. Thanks for watching 💪🏻

@@robinwilliamson95 Thanks for the answer! I will consider my options, I thought about using a tree that has to be cut down anyways, but since that will not be already milled, I think I'd have a really hard time balancing it well...

Nice instruction! Gonna try it out! Where did you get the metal pipes for the weights?
@robinwilliamson955 жыл бұрын
Thanks, hope it helps you out. I just searched eBay - for quite a long time - for phrases like: weight plate storage/bumper plate storage/gym weight plate wall mounted storage and I eventually found them. That was actually the hardest part of the build for me. Good luck 👍

@@robinwilliamson95 yeah! I have the log now but i'm still searching the internet to find the weight storage things.. in Germany there is absolutely no term for it..🙄 Maybe im gonna make them by myself. Keep up the nice work, my friend!

What brand plate holders did you use
@jaycee16714 жыл бұрын
It says primal strength on the plate holder. I had a welder make mine. The handles and plate holders 60$ total.

excellent video. And looks close to a professional log! How did you source the raw log I am having trouble.
@robinwilliamson953 жыл бұрын
Thanks 👍 Mine is made from an old telegraph pole, but I’m sure you could buy a large fencing post that would do the same job. Other than that check with local utility companies to see if they have any off cuts spare, or check online with timber merchants or farm supply companies.

@@robinwilliamson95 thanks you've given me an idea there so I'll start asking some questions. If I can get close to the quality of your log I'll be very happy. Which reminds me, I must buy a chainsaw 😂

Old video - but wondering how the screwed in plate bumpers are holding up - can they handle repeated heavy weights and bumps with the floor?
@robinwilliamson954 жыл бұрын
So far so good. To be fair though, I try not to drop it from overhead just in case - mainly because I don’t wanna wreck my poor, old, garage floor - and I since I originally posted the video I’ve added some 200mm screws either side that I had left over from a decking project. I have dropped it from over head when I’ve missed lifts and it seems solid enough, and just FYI I use a couple of old car tyres to minimise any impact. Cheers 👍

Where did you buy the weight storage ends?
@robinwilliamson953 жыл бұрын
I bought them off eBay from a warehouse gym that was closing down and were getting rid of all their equipment. I’ve tried to find more of them online without much success - unless you wanna spend a fortune - as I fancied making another one, but even the company Primal Strength don’t seem to sell them on their own website? Good luck and let me know if you find anything similar 👍

let me guess, it was 500 kg, in your home gym, and the referee was your father....
@robinwilliamson954 жыл бұрын
It was actually 502kg, and the referee was Stevie Wonder.
@TF-mn1wo3 жыл бұрын
is this a hafthor reference? the referee was magnus ver magnusson who is the wsm referee, not his father. Would be good if people actually watched the lift themselves instead of listening to others
@robinwilliamson953 жыл бұрын
@@TF-mn1wo 🤦♂️ so I’m going to assume you didn’t even watch my video then? See, at the end of the video I pretend as if the strongman log is loaded up with 501kg and then I press it overhead, you know, just as a joke because it clearly doesn’t weigh that much. Maybe instead of complaining about things on the internet you should chill out and get a sense of humour. Love you 😘
@TF-mn1wo3 жыл бұрын
@@robinwilliamson95 actually my comment was in response to the original post about the father being the referee, not to what you said or whats in the video, i actually liked your video but thanks for getting triggered and explaining your humour to me, nice video btw
