I watched part 2 first 😄 Excellent idea (spoiler alert) the end result is wonderful 🎊 I do have a question about the smell...was the fuel smell gone? Or was it removed when the interior was scrubbed and painted?

Thank you, so glad you enjoyed the video! Upon purchasing the tank it did not smell at all! When companies removed these types of tanks, it is a requirement that they decommission the tank (ie do some type of cleaning) The tank then sat for years so by the time we got it there was no smell at all! The scrubbing and painting was more for aesthetic purposes.

Love your setup! Would burying this under my foundation is poured with a trap door to my pantry still have the cooling properties?

Thank you! If you are burying under ground it would have the same cooling properties. The geothermal of the earth keeps it a constant cool temperature all year long. You would still need to consider some ventilation though.

Hey there, just a quick question for you. I’d like to buy land and live off-grid like how you’re doing, I have no prior experience with carpentry/building knowledge, I was curious what you do/did for work to allow you to not just buy the land and tools but also for you to know exactly what to do when building entire barns and cellars like this. Truly remarkable, love the videos man!

Hey! Thank you for your comment, glad you like the videos. To answer you question we are going to release two videos soon on our life before homesteading and how we got to this point. I hope you subscribe! But in the short I (Hank) when to vo-tech in high school for carpentry and then went on to school for boat building. I owned a boat restoration company for over 15 years and worked many odd jobs in the construction field. But I also learned a lot of skills through trial and error, watching youtube videos, reading blogs etc. Just trying things out and problem solving as I go. You could do the same, the goal of our channel is to inspire people to homestead/live off-grid. Hope you come back!

Thank you! We bought it off a private seller from facebook marketplace. It was used for holding fuel but had been decommissioned and sitting for years.

I would suggest looking into fuel companies, water companies, and then excavating companies perhaps they are removing them. Hope that helps!
