And I'm here in 2024 LoL ! Recently got a men's small tshirt because i loved what was on the shirt. Was looking for new ways to upcycle it cuter/smaller. I TOTALLY FORGOT about cutting the sides + tying knots method !!! Used to do this in early 2000s 😂. Only I like to cut the neck out round so it's off 1 shoulder. 🖤

I've made a ton of these lately and I find it's easier to cut the slits in the sides if you fold the shirt in half and cut through both sides at the same time. Then I know the spacing is even and I've cut the same number of slits on both sides. You need a good pair of fabric scissors to do this, but they are well worth the 8 bucks you pay for them!

Love Avenged too! ALSO! BEING older than you I advise NEVER getting rid of the OLD concert shirts! Mine are worth a fortune for the 80's! Crazy! BUT I buy some at second hand shops or Hot topic for this purpose! I have a decrepid Maiden shirt I might do this with as it's all full of holes anyway!

Another good way to create the slits that she did on the side of the t-shirt without cutting down the shirt completely, is to just cut the sleeves off (if you want to) and then just cut the back and the front of the shirt together, to make little slits then you can stretch them to your desired look/style. I just thought of saying this because some people may not like the look:) but I honestly love the way you have created this shirt as you own so it is unique:)💕xx

My teen did this to an oversized t-shirt she got from a Monster Skate exhibition, she didn't go as low for the v-neck and because the shirt was an XL & she's a small/medium, the fit on the sides came out perfect - not too tight & not baggy at all - Thx for the tutorial!

So the sides like this would make an oversized shirt fit tighter. Right? But if you cut the sides in slits without cutting the side off to begin with then it would make a tighter shirt more lose. Right?

I love this! I work at a liquor store and my manager gave me a Blue Chair Rum shirt that was far to big on me! I saw this and tried it. It worked perfectly. I've just been buying shirts now that are too big and doing this. I've done it to a Les Miserables and Sex Pistols shirt. Now I have to do my My Chemical Romance and Sublime shirt.

natali x Aw thank you! :) I think they're cool looking, really trendy however they do require a lot of TLC (just like any other piercing) but if you really want it and are willing to commit to it then I would say yes! Go to a good piercer and always ask questions if you have them!

If you go to a good piercer and take care of it you shouldn't have a problem. They do sometimes reject though, yes.
