You don't need filtration and aeration if you do regular water changes - and dont crowd the tank with fish. Filtration makes everything easier though. Cheers, Michael :0)

Thank you for another inspiring and lovely video 🤩 Can I ask, what is the benefits of having this instead of or together with a planted tank? Is it the density and texture of the yarn, or is it something else that makes the fish to prefer laying their eggs there?

Thank you for your feedback. The prime benefit by having mops in your tank is, that the eggs are easier for you to find. I harvest eggs from the mops, and move them into small plastic containers, to better be able to monitor the hatching and the feeding of the fry. But, that is only important if you wanna breed intensively. The fish will breed in plants as well, and some fry would probably still survive. I mainly use mops, when I want to breed some of my species, to either keep the strains for my own tanks or to sell to shops or fellow aquarists. If intensive breeding isn't a goal, plants are much more beautiful to look at. That being said. I believe that fish often choose the mops over the plants in tanks where they have both options. Cheers, Michael :0)
