Hi I have done this using the tip of my hot glue gun with no glue stick in. Also if you have one, could use your hot fix wand with the pointy tip in. You could also use a tea light or candle stub as a hands free flame. Just an idea.;)

Its a soldering gun But you could heat a BBQ rod with a candle as i did @ the end of the video
