DIY How to replace battery on a VW Key FOB transponder Volkswagen Jetta Golf Beetle Passat

How to replace keyfob battery from a 1999 VW Beetle with key fob transponder fccid NBG735868T. When I checked the fccid number it shows that this keyfob should work with the following models and year Volkswagens. Also When I purchased the Beetle the owner told me that this was not the original keyfob. If your keyfob is differnt then check out my other video where I change the battery on a similar style but different design.

VW makes several keyfobs that look similar but open differently. This was on a 1999 Beetle
All you need is a small screwdriver and it takes a CR2032 battery

Awesome video ! You got a love it when someone can post a one minute video, not drag it out to 10 minutes, and actually teach you how to do something that was as baffling as a Rubiks cube before watching the video !! I had the key open in under 10 seconds. Replaced battery and it still didn’t work to lock the car ! then I discovered that the front door was ajar. LOL probably needed a new battery anyway since I doubt anyone else has replaced it ..thank you very much !!

I took my used VW 2011 Jetta to the Ford dealership where I bought it 1 week ago. They said they couldn't figure it out how to change the battery and I'd have to take it to a VW Dealership.... which for me, is a 40 minute drive. Really? They couldn't Google this? Places like Thompsons shoe repair etc will change battery's, I think I paid like £8 last time. But this time I was given a battery by a mate and now I'm here lol

Worked just fine for my 2015 Golf. Same basic technique (takes a 3V) , just a little bit different as far as getting the back cover off, but still very simple. Thanks for the vid!

I have the key fob featured in this video. The red LED light is blinking non-stop. Pressing each of the three buttons does not stop the blinking. What's wrong with the key fob? Aaron ANIMAL no, the key still works to start the car and manually unlock or lock the doors u just can't use the buttons to get into the car. Currently having this issue, couldn't find where the battery goes to replace it. Now I know

I put a new battery in my key fob, but the alarm still doesn't work. I just bought my Beetle.

My transponder chip was glued heavily in the old key, all methods sucked balls i used a toothpick and a heat gun on low and it fell right out in about 2 seconds with zero effort and no risk of breaking it

Brand new battery but won't light up after I change it. STUPID VW, put the old battery back in and it works fine but I have to be right on top of my car for it to unlock due to 2032 being old and dead. Why won't it recognize a new battery?!? Stupid. Stupid stupid!
