A replacement oil filter housing costs around $35 and means you can remove and refit the filter in less than a minute. You will then always have a spare filter housing for all future oil and filter changes. Reduces the whole process down to around 5 minutes.

So the 10 min operation includes the time it takes to change the filter? How does that affect the oil pump?
@xj358
@xj358 7 ай бұрын
@@Angler233 Yes mate, you can do the whole lot in 5 minutes if you're ready to go with everything. That's filter off and on(60 seconds ). Old oil out and sump nut refitted (90 seconds). New oil in (90 seconds) and then fire up the engine. Supposedly, if you take longer than 10 to 15 minutes to refill the engine oil on a Ranger 2.2 and 3.2, then it drains from the oil pump and will not then prime itself when you start up the vehicle leaving you with no oil pressure. I therefore don't want to get close to the 10 to 15 minute mark so I get it done around the 5 minute mark and haven't had any problems.

Why didn’t you remove the oil filter through the wheel arch?

taking a pic before disconnecting the lines is a good idea. We don't always need "before" and "after" to be different

Epic Service mate ,,, on the oil drain , last time stamp you gave was 1:30 min would you say it was a 2:00mins drain total ?? , also you seemed to rush refill and start up , is the rushed start up a necessity in relation to the Pump ? Or just you showing how swift it can be done within 10mins Hope my ocd comment made sense

Hi mate, replacing the oil filter is included in 10 minutes window in changing the oil and filling up new oil? or the 10 minutes window is just only for changing the oil and filling up new oil?

Thanks for that Azza! You have inspired me to do my own servicing. Used to service my previous 4wd but was worried with the rangers about the oil pump and the 15 minute time. But definitely more confident seeing this video. Cheers mate 👌

When you do the engine flush and run engine to normal temperature can u change oil straight away and still have the 10 mins window or will the oil drain out alot faster bringing the 10 minute window lower?

That was a very well deserved beer! I'm planning to service my 2016 Mazda BT-50 at home and this video helps a lot. Just curious about the fuel pre-filters, I am not sure I've ever seen those in my car. Will go check now. Thanks for the video!

I use a 10L measuring jug from bunnings to top my oil up I just pre fill the jug to 4.5L and pour it in, abit easier than holding a 10L drum and guessing.. it also speeds up the oil change aswell if your really concerned about the 15min time limit. just a tip for all those out there
@braydenfletcher5089
@braydenfletcher5089 2 жыл бұрын
The rangers take 9.8L of oil so it’s pretty much the whole drum anyway
@offgrid4x481
@offgrid4x481 2 жыл бұрын
@@braydenfletcher5089 your correct if you were to suck every last bit of oil out, but the oil pump plus some lines do not completely drain therefore it will never be a complete 9.8L replaced, i usually have 1.5 - 2L still in the 10L drum afterwards

Fair play bud, I did mine for the first time this Friday gone, and had watched other vids as well, some talk about taking off sump guard…..tosh, I did and found no need to but found out previous dude put it back, ass about face[that’s another story😅, ] but other guys had me washing off components with degreaser and rags galore before re-assembly and I was basically under the cosh right through😢, and yeah oil Shit in abundance, but you didn’t give a fuck, one out one in bosh!! Fire it back together and March on brother, wish I’d seen your vid 1st 😂😂😂
