Just wanted to update everyone and let you know that I actually just moved…. One of the good things about this move is that it’s actually written in the lease that loudness is not tolerated …this is the first time I’ve ever seen a lease that includes noise levels which I greatly appreciate… The sound proofing I did in the video did help me but it’s time for me to be in a new space… I really appreciate you all for watching and I hope this video helps even it’s just to get some sanity from the comments to know you are not alone in this situation… I wish you all Peace and Quiet ♥️♥️♥️

Omg yessss! I have some really annoying people living above me and they play the music 24/7, smoke lots of weed, always fighting and arguing, plus they have a big dog that won’t stop barking! I feel like they don’t have carpet because I hear everything they do and it’s literally driving me insane! And to include they haven’t paid rent in 7 years and they landlord can’t get them out. It’s like a nightmare living here and I need to figure out a solution to sound proof my walls or something. I can’t sleep or work from home in peace at all.

Or a law that you’re not allowed to have bass in apts especially if you share a wall or if they do have a strict policy to only allow it Friday and sat nights but from a decent time like 3p-8p my neighbor is a narcissistic creeper and she’s been torturing me with her same 7 songs on repeat with a subwoofer bass 🔊 shaking and vibrating my bedroom walls from 5a-11p every night since Sunday and it’s all because she’s obsessed broke and mad I politely declined going over her apt when she knocked on my door after not even being here for 24 hours like wtf.. I looked into laws and there’s a certain decibel level that’s against the law to be played for any human because it causes physical damage overtime especially when it’s constant. It’s so evil it’s like she’s trying to slowly drive me insane and kill me in a passive aggressive insidious way. I notice even when I put rain sounds to drown out the noise last night which helped, she also ended up turning the bass and music down. But soon as I turn the sounds down or off she’ll turn it way back up again! I’m not moving cause this place has mail delivered into my living room & a washer and dryer in my bathroom hall. I’ve been through so much and finally trying to enjoy my life & not have to worry about living in survival and here we go again 😒 then to make things worse the apt mgrs are extremely dismissive defensive and narcissistic as well telling me if I don’t like it then move. Like wtf is actually going on? I’ve never been a cop caller but have tried to call for someone to come out 3 days in a row and they all said they would send someone and no one ever showed up. Even pleading with everyone about how bad the migraines have been from the time i wake to the time I sleep. I can’t concentrate, i can’t sleep in my own room, I’m forced to sleep in living room, it’s just really hell 🔥

Yes that would be amazing!!! I’m in a complex billed as a luxury condo and it’s nice but my upstairs neighbor is SO LOUD. For what I pay for rent, I don’t feel like alittle peace and quiet is too much to ask. I feel like if you can’t be respectful of the fact that you have neighbors that are affected by your shut, don’t live in a communal living scenario. Some noise you can’t avoid, I get that. But the blaring music, gaming and movies are a choice. Subwoofers don’t belong in an apartment complex.

Hi just an observation to help people out with this kind of external coverage of internal wall sound absorption treatment’s. Other treatments could be more effective in absorbing airborne sounds and physical like knocks and bangs. Cork tiles or thick rolled cork is natures best secret on sound absorption, it’s also attractive and can be painted or covered with a thick textured wall paper and paint. The thing about sound is adjacent walls or ceiling to a neighbours carry and amplify certain sound waves. A bare apartment or house has reverb so in order to treat reverb and sound transference without going down the structure route (highly expensive). You need to think mass as in layering your home or problem areas with sound absorption materials that with both absorb and deaden offending reverb and sound waves including your own and neighbours. In my opinion the acoustic foam tiles are good in some instances but not alone or like this treatment. Using cork would of been more cost effective in that area. The acoustic sound blocking curtains great for purpose and aesthetic appearance. Also think art any large canvas art can be made into sound absorption panels to strategically place on those alcove areas in this video, but first either use old clean towels folded carefully placed in the gap behind canvases, and sealed flatly with tape or better some thin backing board or cork, now they have added mass to absorb sound used in conjunction with other DIY treatments and design aesthetics. Heavy curtains and sound absorption curtains are great but expensive but do indeed reduce sound reflection. Remember in any room bare hard surfaces will amplify and bounce sound waves around so in general think soft furnishings rugs and carpets. A beautiful thick large rug placed over a wall like that one along with other treatments would help and also look fabulous. I don’t in way want to say this person has got it wrong but want to give someone else watching this to think about the full picture and to think about sound transference and ways to treat the problem with both style and materials. The foam is good in some instances but will not ever block sound it is absorption of certain frequencies and are great in that purpose. They can be grouped into panels and stuck to hard board and then covered in some lovely fabrics that are not to thick to block the foam but to make them look less studio more home then placed as wall art around a room. Layering style purpose. I hope this helps anyone else with similar problems and I hope your neighbours living does not invade your space. Another tip especially for sleeping try a brown noise app and get used to sleeping with it on speaker at a volume that comforts you and drift away, so called white and other coloured noise is great for blocking out external noise and can aid a good nights sleep. Peace and good will to all 🙏

OMG, I completely understand how you feel! I used to have my own peaceful and quiet place in Belleville, Ontario, but I had to move back to my parents' house in Toronto after losing my job. One of the reasons I lost it was because of my fragrance allergy, which wasn’t properly accommodated. Now, I live on the top floor of my parents' house, and the landlord and his girlfriend live in the basement. She wears strong perfume, and the scent comes up through the heating vents, so I had to block them. Because of that, I don’t get any heat in my room. On top of that, they come home really late because the landlord owns a restaurant. They get in around midnight or 1 a.m., and their entrance is right next to my bedroom. I can hear everything-the door opening, their footsteps downstairs, and their loud conversations, which are crystal clear. I’m losing sleep every single night. We’ve asked them nicely to keep the noise down, but they don’t listen. Last night, they were talking until 3 a.m. outside their place downstairs. It made my blood boil. Honestly, I’ve thought about making noise at 8 a.m. when they’re sleeping, just to show them what it feels like. I’m so fed up. Between not being able to get a job due to my fragrance allergy, which affects my breathing, and losing sleep because of the noise, I’m at my wit’s end. I can’t even use the heat because her perfume is more important to her than my ability to breathe. It’s so frustrating and feels completely unfair. I’m desperate, so thank you for letting me share this-it helps to vent.

Always use the insulation all the way up to the ceiling. Otherwise, more than half of the sound will still come into the room. Even a crack around an electrical outlet can let more than 50% of the sound in if it's not sealed fully with layers of caulk (preferably soundproofing sealant). Instead of using the eggcrate foam pads, you can get flat 2 to 4 inch furniture foam which would be easier to cut and slap on once. Using insulation foam like fiberglass rolls would block more sound but requires a bit more skill to install, including some wood strips to hold it better. Mineral foam insulation is even better but harder to secure on a vertical space so requires more skill and attachment points.
@JP5466 Жыл бұрын
Those foam panels are really acoustic panels made for studios... they do NOTHING to keep the sound from coming through the wall. For that you need a lot more mass.
@retniretep9477 Жыл бұрын
@@JP5466 they're better than the eggcrate foam, but Of course, everyone knows you need to seal the entire walls and ceiling with MLV, green glue and 5/8" drywall, if you want to block sound penetration into or out of the room.
@retniretep9477 Жыл бұрын
@@JP5466 The floor has to be decoupled from the room to essentially build a floating room inside of the existing room. It may reduce the perimeter by a few inches in each dimension but may be well worth the peace of mind to those who prioritize silence.

I live in the Philippines in the urban area and goooooosh… they will karaoke anytime of the day, have nooooooooisy birthday parties amd blast super loud songs. Especially in 2020 that we all had to stay at home. That was… PUNISHMENT EVERYDAAAAAAAY!. And when you tell them (yes them cuz I am sorrounded by neighbors who sing, blast songs from their speakers and birthday parties) to turn it down a bit cuz I need to sleep, I need to rest and I need to work. The run was from 2016-2021 and yes, since the only way to move out is to get higher salary, for me to afford a house in a quiet neighborhood, I forced myself to career shift to UX design and I moved out in 2021 October. The next goal is to get my parents out of that neighborhood and please please please, regardless of what we all wanna do in our lives?, please be sensitive to our neighbors. It was quite a novel haha😂

He said he was walking normally, which I believe, but I asked him to try walking lighter anyway, and he said he's busy and slammed the door on my face. 🤷♂ Well I tried. If you own the house, put 2 extra layers of drywall on the wall that the sound is leaking trough, also check for slits between wall and floor/sealing and fill those with elastic expanding foam or flexible gum. The higher density and elimations of air gaps will do a lot for sound isolation. Or if the wall doesn't have eany electrical outlets build a freestanding wall (only contact points is the side walls and floor/sealing) fill it with isolation, just remember, no contact with the wall that the sound comes from. This will isolate the the new wall from transferring sound from your neighbours, the osolation between the old wall and new wall will absorb the sound that sips trough in between the old and new wall.

I’m currently living next to an unpleasant neighbor with a loud voice. Does acoustic panels + tapestry actually work to block out noise? I have read that acoustic panels are not actually effective if the neighbor (the cause of the noise) decides to put up the panels and obviously the probability of that happening is low.
@NZTALJAH2 жыл бұрын
As I stated in the video it will not completely block it, it will lower the noise level. The only way to block it is to have the walls professionally soundproof
@pugglepooch2 жыл бұрын
So then you must also have the additional cost of painting and repairing the wall when you move out since you’ll have used adhesive on the walls that leaves marks..
@NZTALJAH2 жыл бұрын
I did not use adhesive on the walls… I used adhesive to connect the foam pieces together to one another…I used 3M command strips to put the foam pieces on the wall so the wall won’t be damaged… The video only shows me adding a new layer of foam pieces to what was already there
