Love the design. Best one I’ve seen. Outrigger on that table at the hinge is a good idea. Take away that flex that will start breaking things. Great job!!

I would also add a stabilizer leg to use while lifting if not tire wont last. I am getting ready to add a lift to a splitter and going to model off yours 🇺🇲👍

Add a flow control valve that will allow to adjust the lift speed to a constant safe speed 👍

Nice job. I'm drawn to the design of the guy that used a chain, pulley and the return stroke to power his lift. Very simple design and very effective. Also provides a large table for breaking down large rounds.

That is a great addition to the log splitter. That will make large logs a worry of the pasts
@Redneckmfg6 жыл бұрын
Those large logs were starting to hurt me... I'm getting to old for those big Red Oak pieces ! LOL I'm Looking into a restrictor for the hydraulics to slow the motion down.. its way to fast... Thanks for watching and the comment

A washer inside the hose connection will slow down the movement.

Sure beats hell out of your ladder. Your video on this build has made me decide to add this to mine.
@Redneckmfg4 жыл бұрын
Lol it will save your back for sure... you almost need the side tablets just to keep the split pieces from falling on the ground.. keep me informed as to your progress on building the lift...
@dalethompson58424 жыл бұрын
You are going to have to make out riggers, one on either end to keep the splitter from over turning under the load of a log during the lifting process.
@marklengal99904 жыл бұрын
Buy any chance do you have a parts list? The welding is no problem but I have no idea about hydrolics. You did a great job

Well welcome aboard !!! I hope you look back at some of our older videos we have made bikes that measure 16' long and crazy motorized contraptions with 4' diameter wheels and we also have the mode of transportation with 7' wheels... Thanks for joining us & I hope our good videos outweigh the bad ones...

You can buy a flow control valve for hydraulics and control the speed of travel on the cylinder.......

Building something similar to your lift soon. Great job! 🇺🇸⚡️🪓🪚

How are you making out with your build ??? This build is not pretty .. but man it works like a champ.. no more lifting...

Is there a way to make the downward motion like the float function on a tractor loader? With just gravity bringing it bake down.
@jimwright95002 жыл бұрын
Cool but I think that there should be a way to slow down the lift/reset so it isn't so fast. I have the same splitter. (without the lift).

So you gona put some kind of stabilizer to keep it from flipping over when you a real log on there? I wish my troy built would split like that !
@twagner61553 жыл бұрын
I personally don't put water on my parts unless I want to harden it. I just pick it up hot and use vise grips or pliers and tack it in place. If I can't do that I just wait. Of course what every man wants is a tractor with a bucket or a fork lift.

Excellent job with the lift. Works good and saves your back.!! How many times is that wood gonna warm ya!! Lol... The stores sell small arm loads for 5 or 6 bucks around here in Iowa.
@Redneckmfg6 жыл бұрын
That is a very good question... One that I know the answer to all so well !!! - This wood will warm me 5 times 1- cut tree down. 2- cut wood up. 3- split wood. 4- stack wood. 5- Burn wood !!!! And, the price of firewood is crazy around here as well... we are near the beach so camping is a big thing... and the locals know Tourists have money !!! its probably about the same price as you mentioned.. But it is crazy what they get for a few pieces of firewood..
@tooge474 жыл бұрын
we have a firewood ministry here in east TN, we run this exact same splitter, need a log lift, I will share this video with Unca Ray Ray, see if I can talk him into modifying our splitter, as we are tired of having to lift heavy rounds

The only question I have is will that produce back pressure on the line coming from the pump or will it just bypass thru the valve.. I am familiar with that type of valve but just wasn't sure about back pressure... Thanks for that info... I def. need to do something so we don't catapult a log across the yard... lol
@markmodray76986 жыл бұрын
DAN ROGINA beat me to the suggestion.😉
@Paulman506 жыл бұрын
Every one beat me to this suggestion. You can put them on the pressure side or the dump side of the cylinder. Or you can put a disk in one of the joins with a very small hole drilled in it. I've USD the disk method heaps cause it costs nothing. Works well👍
@Redneckmfg6 жыл бұрын
Hmmm ! would a regular washer work ?? or must it be thicker then that ??? I like "" costs Nothing"" ideas.. lol
@Paulman506 жыл бұрын
Just a regular washer is good , but the hole would be like 4mm
@MrThenry19884 жыл бұрын
Might need outriggers with jacks on it. One guy on the log and one on the controls is not a dandy idea.

Wondering what size (specs) for your ram. Cheers Paul
@Redneckmfg Жыл бұрын
I'm thinking it was 2 1/2" bore and 10" stroke.. I am still using this splitter and lift system 4 years later .. but I had to buy a new valve for the push cylinder and a new push cylinder we tore the trunnion right off of the original ram... and Im getting ready to buy a new 22gpm pump and I have a 16hp motor for it... because my cycle time is so slow...

what is the gpm on the pump and what size rams please
@Redneckmfg4 жыл бұрын
The pump is a stock pump I think it is 9.5 GPM,, The splitter ram is 4.5x24x1.75 (surplus center item number 9-8678) the lift ram is 2.75x8x1.125 (surplus center item number 9-8734) the added Valve for the lift is a 1 spool valve (surplus center item number 9-12474) Hope this helps www.surpluscenter.com is the website I have referred above....
